DONT MISS OUT!

How very fortunate my wife and I are to have traveled the world and stay at some of the finest resorts and hotels. And as a couple looking to see as many of the world's cities-towns-villages once- and then on to the next- we do a great deal of research and read thousands of reviews to do our very best to hit a place to rest that most others highly recommend. Sometimes those resorts and hotels and Inns don't hit the bar (and that's OK)-- yet SANTA MARINA was way above it. First we followed those who said stay outside Mykonos city center and relax in Ornos-- which after visiting little Venice multiple times to shop and dodging the enormity of visitors filling the streets it ended up-- for us-- being a great choice. Next we wanted a little beach time and considering the lofty costs to beach at the private beach clubs in and around Mykonos we loved the idea they had a private beach which YES was awesome with terrific sunbeds, lounges, seaside staff. The infinity pool area was terrific and had spa-like serenity and at night was just gorgeous. Here again- great staff! The Buddha bar was very cool with very exotic interiors and lucky for us in low season not very crowded. Great food and even better drinks perched seaside, superb. Our breakfast buffet included due to our Bonvoy status was a top 10 worldwide. Great offerings of hot, cold, sweet, a little of everything-- the OJ was top flight-- and yet again tremendous and very attentive service. As for the suite--- a WOW moment indeed- lovely decorated and appointed with a balcony view that was just crazy beautiful. I think we took about 200 pix from the balcony-- and the first night there was a fabulous wedding right under our suite which was right out of a Hollywood movie. Lastly I will call out 3 staff members who sadly were working their last few days before the resort closed for winter. A big thanks to Victoria, Alexia, and Dragana- I can awfully chatty Im told and asked about a hundred favors and everyone was granted with big smiles. And in a town with few taxis they had them at the ready much quicker than we expected. Sadly I doubt we will visit Mykonos again-- but if we do-- we will definitely stay at this top10 global resort. This is the place to stay. btw--- go to Delos-- it is a magnificent island rich in history-- and have the desk staff arrange the tour as it was superb!

Disappointed

Having been in many luxury hotels , SM wouldn’t be on my top 20 list. Most everything was ok , staff was nice , food was ok . My balcony was quite large but only had a couple of chairs .. What was most upsetting is that I accidentally left a bathing suit that I purchased in Mykonos, in my room’s bathroom. When I noticed, it was too late to go back . I called the hotel and they told me they couldn’t find anything. I found it really odd as I know there is only one place that it could have been . I wonder if some staff person is wearing my suit now 😙

Stunning

This hotel is stunning and the service matches it. We have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and this one is amongst the top of the list. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately well kept. The service is second to none, the staff go above and beyond. The breakfast is amazing. The beech is out of this world. Can’t fault this hotel. Loved it and highly recommend it.

A magical place.

My Husband and I have visited Santa Marina now every year since 2014, throughout that time we have witnessed lots of change ( always for the better) and every year we wonder how it is possible to improve yet somehow year on year they do. Santa Marina is an extremly special place to us, with the views of the Yachts and the endless blue Aegean, there is a wonderful sense of calm everywhere you go which makes it the perfect place to unwind on holiday. Although if you do want a bit of party Buddha Bar can certianly offer that. This year were kindly upgraded to a beautiful deluxe sea view room which had a great outdoor space and wonderful views. Having stayed in most rooms types now inc the suites I can say they are all fantastic, they all have stunning views and the beds are oh so comfortable. I'd like to say a huge thank you to the bar manager Nick who really looked after me this year after my Husband had to fly home early. Nick always goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we look forward to seeing him every year. He is a great sommelier and fantastic mixologist with a brilliant team behind him. Honestly i've never come accross a bar that is so well ran and efficient. Buddha Bar is an absolute must on your trip to Mykonos if you like Pan-Asian food. Now for the show stopper of Santa Marina - The Beach! Thank you to George and all of the team, walking down in the morning to my favourite sunbed with towels already laid out without having to ask, now that's service! Always happy and not far away the service levels on the beach are exemplary. If you are unsure about booking Santa Marina, it is the definition of class and style. There are so many beautiful hotels on the island of which I have tried a few, but I always come back to what feels like home, Santa Marina. We always travel in September, for us it's the best time. June-Aug can be very busy and I guess Mykonos would probably feel like a different experience, so if you are unsure of when is best to travel and you are flexible - Septemeber is your one. If I had one small critique it would be about the reception staff, I can't put my finger on what it is about them but at check out they seemed a bit 'grumpy', they were not rude but I think there is room for improvement there considering how good everything else is. See you next year - Lucy Ware.
