About the Hotel

The Wauwinet, an Inn by the Sea, nestled on the shore of historic Nantucket Island, has struck a delightful balance between casual seaside inn and sophisticated European retreat. Nantucket's only Relais & Chateaux property, the inn is located a short drive from Nantucket Townâ€(TM)s cobblestone streets, where the fashionable boutiques and restaurants rival those of Aspen and the Hamptons. The Wauwinet is the only prospect that is nestled between Nantucket Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the perfect place from which to explore the beauty of this New England paradise.

Charming Top Notch Relais & Chateaux Inn!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We had looked forward to staying at The Wauwinet for some time, and finally did it! It met all of our high expectations! Great location right between the bay and ocean…easy access to both. Top notch restaurant in Topper’s with it’s gourmet menu, but also can dine on the deck or bar with the lighter Deck Menu…we did both and enjoyed both! Totally charming! The staff was friendly and helpful to a person, from the fellows who met us at the dock and ran the hourly shuttle to and from town, to reception, housekeeping, and great bar/sommelier/dining staff. Katarin at the bar was fabulous, and so nice to talk to, as was Dennis, whose knowledge of wine was expansive! The beach on the ocean is beautiful. The grounds were very well kept, loaded with daffodils and pansies all over at this time of the year. Our cottage room was beautiful, with gas fireplace, and very comfortable bed. It’s only 6 miles out of town, and they run a shuttle van back and forth every hour. We also dined at their sister property in town, the White Elephant at the Brant Point Grill, right on the water, which was also excellent. So in sum, a perfect two night getaway! Highly recommend!

Such a Beautiful Place

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on the island and stayed at the Wauwinet. First of all, the staff was amazing, so helpful and friendly they really made our stay that much more special. I can't say enough about how professional warm and accommodating the staff is. And a special thank you to Venosha for her exceptional care and assistance. We stayed in a cottage that was very nice and private, the hotel is very beautiful, with many interesting antique pieces throughout. We dined at "Toppers" and enjoyed a delicious gourmet meal. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Wauwinet and we would love to return to such a magical place.

Little gem in Nantucket

We had the best time in Nantucket. Made so much better by staying at this lovely hotel. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. The hotel itself is just dreamy. Food was amazing. Loved the fact that it was right on the beach. The sunsets where something else. If it wasn’t 15+ hours to get there it would definitely be my go to place, so will have to wait until next year to go back. Counting down already

Nantucket's nature beauty at its purest!

We had a fabulous pre-season visit to the Wauwinet where Sean Burpee and his team lived up to everything we've come to expect from Relais & Chateaux properties: top-quality service, decor and cuisine. The real advantage of the Wauwinet is its location, away from the tourists and crowds of downtown. We made use of the hotel's well-maintained bikes and had a great trip to 'Sconset and its bluff footpath overlooking the Atlantic. The regular shuttle service to downtown makes it easy to get to other island offerings like the Whaling Museum where we spent several hours learning about the island's fascinating history. Our 4-course dinner at Toppers made creative use of local seafood and produce. The amuse bouche on its own was like a fifth course and revealed Kyle Zachary's innovative style. Great wine recommendation from sommelier Jason Irving. Wonderful way to welcome spring and recharge the batteries with quiet walks along Wauwinet's pristine beach and cycling excursions on excellent bike paths.

THE Place to Stay on ACK

Just a phenomal place to enjoy the beauty of Nantucket. Nestled in a quiet spot straddling the ocean and sound, The Wauwinet offers an unparalled place to unwind and relax. The rooms are nicely appointed and the beds are so comfortable!!! The staff is amazing all around, super friendly and it's like staying with your favorite family. Toppers for dining is outstanding and the service always great. We especially love Nantucket in the offseason and the Wauwinet is always our choice to unplug and chill. Oh yea and the sunsets on the sound and sunrise on the oceanside are incredible. The best Nantucket has to offer!
