Reviews for White Elephant
The White Elephant is amazing! We had a beautiful room with a gorgeous view. The staff at the White Elephant is AMAZING! They were all professional, helpful, and we knew we were going to have a great time from the moment we booked the room! Our room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our group. We stayed near the restaurant, but were not bothered by music which ended at 10:00. The White Elephant is truly a top rate hotel that we will visit again!

I stayed at White Elephant for a family get away. First thing to say about White Elephant is that it is very expensive (Nantucket as a whole is very expensive). My room was a suite described by the hotel as in a busy area near the restaurant and was over $1000 a night. Busy was an understatement. There was live music and a very lively bar directly underneath my room. So, be aware when you book that a busy area means loud. Secondly, the rooms are very plain, but comfortable. My bathroom was 10 square feet - TINY! There was no room to put anything. If you put anything down in the bathroom it would fall in the toilet. All that being said, the White Elephant is charming and a lovely place to stay. I would just ask for a room with a larger bathroom and in a quieter location. The service was immaculate. The location is beautiful and there are drivers to take you to any location you would like in town always available. The bar is very nice and the food is very good. The spa is small but nice.Room 203 is above the bar/restaurant that has live music. Very loud. Bathroom is TINY. Must walk up stairs to get to this room.

It seems like exceptional service and accommodations are more and more difficult to find, perhaps as rare as a white elephant. This was our first trip to the island and after our disaster experience on the Cape, we needed a place to save the day....or vacation. The White Elephant did exactly that. A very courteous driver met us at the ferry and assisted us with our luggage. The hotel was beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. Our room was very nice, had a lovely porch and it was nicely appointed. The staff were as one would expect, willing to go above and beyond. There is an amazing courtyard that we enjoyed our cocktail in every evening. Add a great in house restaurant, see separate review, and it was the perfect stay. I would give it a 10 if i could.
The White Elephant is undeniably in a great location. My room was very comfortable and beautifully furnished. At the price point charged one expects a consistent level of service and regrettably there are gaps that should be addressed. We got off the Sea Streak Ferry and the hotel van was nowhere in sight. A number of us walked around and were about to take a taxi when the van finally appeared. The front desk staff including the concierge were variable. Some helpful and some officious. We asked the Concierge for suggestions regarding a Sushi restaurant and she told us she would not recommend the Sushi place nearest the hotel. She never mentioned the Sushi restaurant in town just a few minutes away. I spotted it on an early morning walk and subsequently had one of the nicest Sushi dinners in recent memory. On the morning of departure I woke up early and asked a very pleasant front desk staff person what time we should be in the lobby for the shuttle to the ferry. I was told 10:25. At 10:20 I went to check out and a different staff member told me I had just missed the shuttle. I pointed out that her colleague (who was still on duty) had told me 10:25. The hotel did provide a car right away but the attitude seemed to me to not necessarily be warm and friendly. There are some opportunities for improvement here.

My wife and I stopped by late afternoon.? We sat outside and had a beautiful view. It was a little chilly and they lit a patio heater. We each had drink and shared a shrimp cocktail. The service was ok. The prices were very high my wife had a Hendrix and tonic I had two Moscow mules. The price before gratuity was $79.00
