Reviews for Valle Perdido

A Rubbish Place to Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed May 7, 2012

Valle Perdido is certainly in a quiet location & in the middle of a wine producing area, however, we cannot see how they can claim membership of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Likewise claiming 5 Star International Cuisine is farcical. The restaurant & kitchen were very poorly staffed, indeed, we had to go into the kitchen to try & find someone to serve us & were horrified at the state of the kitchen. In general, there was no one to assist, inform or look after us & we had to fend for ourselves. There were no wine tours & the tapas bar was closed as was the pool. We enquired about bicycles & were given two, one of which the brakes were binding. We have written to the owners twice but having had no reply, consider we must now make this poor review & certainly do not recommend it in any way.

if you wish to go to a wine region (except Mendoza) - it`s the perfect place for you! we`ve been 3 nights in this unbelievable beautiful hotel and enjoyed every minute. the hotel offers spa, restaurant (breakfast, lunch, dinner), pool, wine tour and loads of delicios fairly priced wines. a must for wine lovers!!! the friendly and kind staff (Luciana, Meira, Shoana) made our stay welcome and wonderful!

A very different hotel and worth a detour to get to it!!

Quiet and special. The hotel is also a winery. The wine, food and rooms are a very good quality and restaurant and facilities are classy! We were one of two couples staying which made it very special. The pool wasn't open which was a shame but maybe they just forgot!! The vineyard manager gave us a tour of the the winery and we had a special tasting session in the tasting room. really great fun and an education. The hotel is out of the way but worth anights detour to enjoy the special palce.

Great hotel... If you can find it!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed January 8, 2012

The hotel is an amazing concept ... In the middle of a vineyard, the rooms are in the basement and you walk out of your bedroom into the wine production cellar. The bar area is really cool and they have a great wine list. We were the only people there so had the pool, grounds and restaurant to ourselves. They cooked us a special meal (if you want your steak less than well done then tell them as they don't ask and didn't tell us we were having steak... It was a 'surprise menu). It is however very very difficult to find. We had the address on google maps (which is incorrect) and spent 3 hours going up and down route 7 trying to find it... And with very bad phone signal and few English speakers around it was very frustrating not to be able to find it. There is no sign at any point (even when you are within the vineyards, we just had to guess at roads... So much so that we got lost leaving the hotel to get back onto the main road and nearly missed our flight). I don't know if there are more detailed directions on their website but it kept crashing and we could t view it. In addition, I found it very difficult to book the hotel... I tried to call but they did not speak English and then when I emailed they said they had no availability. Eventually I got a booking by going through kiwi collection. So I guess it wasn't surprising that we were the only guests there! I say all the above to help make sure you don't suffer from the same mistakes that my boyfriend and I did. It was a very special place and they treated us very well... Like the other guests, we wish we could have stayed longer

Luxury hotel on a vineyard

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed February 8, 2011

We should have stayed longer! If only we knew how wonderful our stay would be... the views of the vineyards were wonderful, and it was so peaceful. The spa facilities looked great (although we didn't have time to try them out) and there was a small pool for relaxing. The staff does not speak english (except for Cristian, the manager- who is great), but all are very helpful. The restaurant was very good and very reasonably priced. The hotel is aptly named... this "Lost Valley" was very difficult to find but well worth the journey!
