Attended the Caribbean night with a roast hog. Overall the food was good however the price per head for me was extreme working out at nearly £60 for a soup starter, Hog roast with rice'n'peas, salad and some hot food along with a bread and butter rum pudding. This might sound like I'm very picky however based on the food we actually ate, and we could of had more this for me was way to over priced considering there was no entertainment which friends of mine said used to happen on this night. Staff were great but the poor mark is for price only.

If you are looking for beachside, air conditioned elegance then Hermitage is probably not for you. If however you are looking for a charming taste of the real Caribbean it might well be. The accommodation is scattered around the beautiful grounds on this delightful little island. We stayed in Goosepen Cottage which is quirky and comfortable. The food in the on site restaurant is excellent, with perhaps the proviso that the fresh fruit and buffet options at breakfast where limited. If you are staying on the Island don't miss the Wednesday evening hog roast. The spit was directly outside Goosepen and the smell drove us mad all day (in a good way!). Certain aspects of the hotel were a bit tired, for example the shower in our cottage is well overdue an update and we thought the pool area needed attention due to missing tiles and crumbling cement around the pool edge. However it is a little gem and the staff are delightful. Thank you everyone for making our holiday so restful, with the exception of the jumpy that is!!

A friend invited us for a party over New Years and we stayed at the Yellow House, which is a 2 bedroom house on the grounds of the The Hermitage. This plantation is utterly charming. From the quaint caribbean architecture to the beautiful grounds, to the lovely women who cleaned our house each was just great. Richie and his family who own the Hermitage are absolutely divine. The restaurant serves top notch fresh food. And the lovely bar serves up some very lethal rum punches! There are dogs and cats and kids running just feels so comfy and friendly, like a family that you want to visit every year. I'm dying to return! Oh, and there are monkeys everywhere! They are very timid and don't come close, but it's lovely to watch them. Monkeys, donkeys and goats roam freely around the island. My only scare was a very large spider that I nearly stepped one evening on the dirt road we were walking on to get to another house..apparently they are harmless :0

Quaint, little estate with adorable cottages & plenty of charm. Attended for Dinner - which was delicious! Sweet, friendly dogs & cats greeted us upon arrival. Has an upscale, yet laid-back feel. Certainly a must-see if touring the Island.

My husband and I spent the most idyllic week staying at The Hermitage in Nevis. This delightful plantation inn is found on the hillside of the island with long views sweeping down to Charleston and the white sandy beaches. Our room was in one of the 'gingerbread' houses scattered through the grounds and meals taken in the open verandah dining area, in the evening the bar was a favourite gathering place before yet another delicious meal. Wednesday night's pig roast with an additional feast of local fishes and meat dishes accompanied by an endless selection of delicious vegetables was a night to remember. Our hosts, Richard and son Richie Lupinacci, made our stay memorable and we cannot thank them - and their excellent staff - enough. We will be back.
