A beautiful oasis

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

What a lovely place this is to spend a few days doing mostly nothing! From the friendly welcome to the sad goodbye we had a wonderful 4 days. The rooms are large, private and simple, with everything you need- clean and cool. Ours had a great view over the gardens to the distant sea from our private terrace. Mango trees attracted the monkeys, who add some entertainment but will not bother you. You need to be aware that this lush environment attracts all kinds of fairly noisy nightlife so bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise! Interestingly we never got bitten by mosquitos- a real bonus! The pool is excellent, with a restaurant for lunch and the bar is run efficiently by Kaddy, who will make sure you know your reggae music before you leave ;-) Despite being a 25 minute drive from their private beach it is very much worth the journey and to make a day of it, with great food from the hotel off the BBQ, clear sea and a lovely quiet location. Food is excellent, with a choice of two restaurants- the 'Restaurant 750' menu is sophisticated and varied- we enjoyed two lovely dinners there, with cocktails and canapés to start in the comfortable lounge. We had a last night meal in the old mill- 'Mill Prive' - a different menu and an interesting place to dine. Breakfast is served on a separate terrace- really varied and again, great food served by the lovely Tasha and Leslie. Highlights for us at Montpellier were the people- all of them really friendly and helpful- it is easy to see that their repeat bookings are higher than average! We will certainly go again.

Luxurious, friendly, fun and tranquil. Great food, wonderful pool, fantastic host and her lovely dog, Cosmo. We felt cared for and that it was important to the management that we lived every minute….which we did. The private beach was gorgeous and the weekly bbq, not to be missed. We would love to return and met many guests who visited year after year.

Not worth the trip

Went for dinner at the acclaimed restaurant that is part of the hotel. Compared to the delightful and welcoming experience we had received from waitresses, hotel staff, shop assistants, the police and other members of society on the island, the attitude and behaviour of all the staff (bar the lady in reception) was decidedly surly, off hand and to be honest, quite rude. Some points that immediately come to mind: In such a restaurant, I don't expect to have to wait over 5 minutes to order a drink after being shown to a table and given the drinks menue and only then after I went tolo the bar to order. How many times is normal to ask the waitress not to take our plates as we had not finished eating? - three? Having to ask for sugar to go with our coffee was followed by the last straw - having to go back to the bar to ask for a spoon to stir it with. Very poor service all round to go with the attitude. The prices were excessive for what was far from exceptional food. The only reason to reluctantly give a second star was the situation and decor of the establishment. There are far better places to go on the island. Not worth the trip.

Absolutely the BEST

I am so absolutely thrilled that we decided to stay at this hotel. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The staff is by far the best around and the grounds are beautiful. A special shout out to Kaddy who made each day special. We celebrated my husbands birthday there and they truly made it special. The rooms are gorgeous, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend this beautiful resort. We spent a day at the beach and the staff there was super attentive. Great food & drinks.

Elegant simplicity- Hopefully coming back next year

Wow- Absolutely beautiful venue with possibly the most caring service we ever had at a resort. We can not say enough about the week we just spent at Montpelier Plantation. It is very understated and quiet. For lack of better words I would call it elegant simplicity. The hotel which is not on the water is built on an old sugar plantation overlooking the sea. It has its own private beach that you go to via the hotel van. The beach was wonderful as were the lunch and dinner barbecues the hotel provided at the beach.

A fantastic experience. The Montpelier Plantation was not only beautiful, quiet and peaceful, but the staff was absolutely wonderful. It was probably the most relaxing getway I have ever had -- thanks to the great staff. If total relaxation is what you are looking for, Monpelier Plantation is the destination.

The best decision we made in planning our honeymoon was choosing to stay at Montpelier Plantation Inn in Nevis. It was the best vacation we've ever taken and exceeded our every expectation!
