Enjoyable Stay!

Overall, really enjoyed our stay at the Leela Palace. Firstly, the airport pick up with the BMW X5 was great and really set the right tone. Check-in was pretty smooth and we were in our rooms fairly quickly, which was really welcome after a long flight. There were some minor issues with the rooms, such as tv, weighing scales & toilet flush not properly working. These issues were rectified fairly quickly, although did have to chase up for the tv issues (in both rooms). That said, these were minor issues. The rooms themselves were fantastic and really spacious and comfortable. Breakfast at the Qube was really good and plenty of selections available. Bhuvan always made sure we had enough masala chai and something we looked forward to! Maene & Himanshu always ensured we were looked after and always willing to help with requirements. Ashmeet Singh Jolly always popped over to ensure we were enjoying the wonderful food he & his team were serving up each day and was much appreciated. We had a minor complaint around the bread baskets that were served up, but again a minor point and the team were very good at taking the feedback on and then trying to rectify it. We had a couple of tours booked through the hotel, one to Agra and the Taj Mahal and one for Delhi. The Taj Mahal tour was great and Dolly Singh from the Concierge did a great job in making sure that went according to plan, including making a booking for us to have lunch at the Oberoi in Agra. The Delhi trip wasn't quite so good, but think this was more down the to the guide that was hired by the hotel and he trying to ignore our itinerary and go with his own one so he could make more money from it. We used the pool, spa & gym facilities and was very happy with these. Vikash at poolside deserved special mention here and he knew our names and went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. The one big let down of the hotel was Jamavar. Had a really poor experience in the restaurant and I definitely don't consider this as a fine dining place. I maybe harsh when I say the food was ok, but having ate at a number of Indian fine dining places, this place doesn't hit the mark. We ate Indian Accent (restaurant in a different hotel) and this place runs circles around Jamavar. What really let Jamavar down was the staff and behaviour that you simply don't expect in a fine dining place...the Management response to the issue was also poor and just scripted. At one point there were 3 or 4 Managers discussing the issue, yet they didn't address the issue and the waiter who was the main issue was allowed to carry on serving us, which just added to our discomfort. Overall, really enjoyed the stay and wouldn't let the Jamavar issue prevent us from coming back....however we'd just ensure we were eating elsewhere for fine dining Indian food.

Second stay at Leela New Delhi.

This was our second stay at The Leela Palace New Delhi, and overall we had a wonderful time thanks to the amazing staff, especially Soyo at the lounge bar, the bartender and Babu and Chedi (apologies if I haven’t remembered their names correctly), who were warm, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. However, we were disappointed with the front office team. I left my favourite shirt by the bathtub and clearly remember where I kept it, but despite calling several times and being promised a callback, no one followed up and the shirt was never found, which was upsetting and strange. To make matters worse, my boyfriend and I both ended up with bed bug bites all over our bodies. I informed the reception so they could address it for future guests, but there seemed to be little concern. For a hotel of The Leela’s reputation, these issues were very disappointing.

Complaint

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This was our 4th stay at Royal Club. Unfortunately, this visit fell significantly below the standards we experienced previously. We were assigned Room 808 on the 8th floor. Upon arrival we observed the following issues: 1. Room condition: Visible mold and limescale on bathroom fixtures. 2. Bathtub: Persistent leak, blocked drains, and unpleasant odor. We also observed insects in the bathtub. 3. Response: We reported these concerns to your team immediately. While attempts were made to resolve the issue, the leak and odor persisted throughout our stay. Additionally, the service at the front desk was unsatisfactory. Staff did not display basic courtesy and showed little interest when we raised these concerns prior to checkout. Furthermore, I have requested our final invoice on multiple occasions. Each time I was informed it would be emailed, but I have not received it to date. Given our history as repeat guests, this experience was deeply disappointing. I request that you investigate the maintenance and service issues in Room 808, and provide the outstanding final invoice at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, Shobha Chandnani [ LR00983894 - june 16- 18 2 days]
