Every aspect of our stay at the Leela Palace was excellent. We had a room on the Royal Club floor with access to the club lounges and concierge staff. It was excellent and great value for money especially when you take into account the range of food and drink on offer in the club lounges. The club staff, particularly Malvika, went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We will stay here on our next trip to Delhi!

My Indian friends said stay at the Leela! So it was an easy choice. I booked with hotels.com. A tip is that the price keeps changing and we must have cancelled for free and rebooked this hotel 4 times and saved £80 by doing this as the price kept dropping closer to our stay. We got a double room fo £581 for 2 nights b&b. The Leela reminds me of the Ritz hotel in London but even better. The room was a city view so we just kept the curtains closed. The marble bathroom was huge as was the tub. Couldn't get the mirror tv working as it kept saying no connection so we gave up. The hairdryer was in a hidden drawer under the sink which I did not find until I rang housekeeping and asked. We dined at the japanese restaurant and the ramen dish was even better than I expected! Freshly made noodles! We were told we could not have in room breakfast so it meant going to the breakfast dining room. I didn't work out until the second breakfast that you can order french toast, omelettes, etc, from the grill chef! This was much better than the lukewarm food laid out in the buffet. Definitely ask for chef to cook your breakfast which is free and included in your buffet rate. The French toast melted in my mouth. Fresh off the grill tastes so much better! The fried rice laid out at breakfast was inedible, cold and tasteless so I left it on my plate. The miso soup was bland and lukewarm. Again inedible. The fresh fruit was nice as was the cheese platter. You can ask the chef for a custom made fruit juice drink. The OJ was freshly squeezed! The wifi in the room and around the hotel was fast and free if you join the hotel loyalty discovery online. I read this tip on tripadvisor so thank you previous reviewers! Before we checked out we headed to the 11th floor rooftop infinity pool. Wow! Really nice and empty! Lots of sunloungers, free water bottles, towels, separate changing rooms with shower, hairdryer, lockers. Excellent opportunity for selfies in an infinity pool overlooking delhi. The concierge was amazing and bought us first class train tickets ahead of arrival for us to go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and he arranged an all day driver in Agra as our chauffeur and a brilliant history and architecture university grad who spoke with passion as he guided us through the Taj and the Fort. The driver cost 7000 rupees which was a bit steep at around £80 and the tour guide 2000 or around £25 which seemed too little so we gave him a very generous tip. At the Taj, there are plenty of professional photographers so pick one and they take lots of photos and then you choose each 5x7 print for 100 rupees. They deliver the photos to you within 2 hours of taking them! Btw the diana bench is not the one in front of the fountain but the one behind. All the tourists were having their photos on the wrong bench as the photographers kept saying that was the diana bench. It was only when I got home that I realised Diana had sat on the bench behind the fountain, ie closer to the taj mahal. This would have meant the photographers for Diana took her picture from across the fountain.

The hotel is beautiful, elegant and outstandingly clean! What made it an extremely good experience was the kindness and professional service. The warm welcome (perfect way to feel welcome in India after a night flight) we were given was great and all staff were helpful and respectful. It is somewhat formal and quite business like, but we were on a Mum and daughter trip and felt like two princesses! Looking forward to returning at the end of this week!

It’s an excellent hotel but you pay for it The location, it’s not really near anything else so it’s more of a resort. You can walk to the metro in 10mins but it’s not a nice walk, fine only if you are adventurous and open to the rough side of Delhi life
