The Oberoi, New Delhi

Having stayed at most of the leading hotels in Delhi over the years – The Leela Palace, Taj Mahal, Taj Palace, The Imperial, and across a reasonable share of the world’s benchmark luxury properties, I once again came back to The Oberoi New Delhi for a three-night family stay with my wife and two sons. I write this review with a clear perspective: there is no other hotel in Delhi that occupies the same tier, and few anywhere that match it on consistency of service. Let me be direct. The other luxury properties in Delhi are good hotels. Several are excellent in their own right. But The Oberoi New Delhi is operating at a different standard, not marginally better, but on a different plane altogether. For anyone who considers themselves genuinely discerning about where they stay in Delhi, there is realistically no other choice at the top end. What distinguishes this property is not any single feature. It is the consistency with which the entire organization performs. From the moment of arrival, through every interaction with the butler team, every meal at 360°, every quiet hour at the pool, every evening at Cirrus 9, the standard never slips. Service of this calibre requires culture, not just training, and that culture is visible in every member of staff you encounter. The culinary operation deserves specific mention. Our 11-year-old son has a nut allergy, and the attentiveness and precision with which the kitchen team managed this across every outlet was exceptional. Chefs appeared personally at every meal to walk us through options, nut-free versions of classic Indian dishes were prepared specifically so he could share the full experience with his brother, and even at the poolside the kitchen leadership came down personally to confirm safe choices. I have travelled with this allergy for years in some of the world’s finest hotels, and no property has handled it with greater care or genuine ownership than The Oberoi New Delhi. The physical product is of course exceptional. Rooms are elegant and quiet. The suite we were kindly upgraded to was spacious and beautifully finished. 360° remains one of the most versatile fine dining operations in India, authentically delivering five distinct cuisines without any noticeable compromise. Baoshuan and Dhilli offer serious culinary experiences at Michelin level. Cirrus 9 is a wonderful rooftop venue at sunset. The pool is a quiet oasis in Delhi’s bustle. But the physical product is almost beside the point. Delhi has several hotels with excellent rooms, strong restaurants, and beautiful pools. What The Oberoi has that the others cannot replicate is the discipline, warmth and quiet competence of its people, from reservations before arrival, through every F&B outlet, to the General Manager himself who takes active personal interest in the guest experience. Verdict: If you want to stay at a good luxury hotel in Delhi, you have several excellent options. If you want to stay at the best, there is only one. The Oberoi New Delhi is the clear and uncontested benchmark in the city, and genuinely belongs in the conversation with the world’s finest hotels. We will certainly return.

Excellent staff; excellent facilities; excellent overall experience. As always, they are meticulous about guest preferences - and there is no comparison to the Oberoi in Delhi (at least in my opinion).

Although we only stayed overnight, it was obvious that the staff and management truly care to provide an exceptional experience. Rooms are fairly large and well-appointed, with designer furniture and amenities. The high-end limo transfer from the airport was above expectations.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Oberoi, New Delhi, and it was an absolutely flawless, magical experience. The hospitality at this property is second to none, largely driven by the brilliant leadership of the Vice President and General Manager, Mr. Panshikar. His hands-on attention, generosity, and care trickle down into every single detail of the operation, making it entirely clear why his team is so exceptional. The property itself is a masterclass in luxury. The amenities are world-class, including a stunning, pristine pool area that provides a perfect, serene escape from the busy city. The hotel also boasts a spectacular choice of restaurants, offering an incredible range of exceptional dining options that cater to every possible palate. To elevate the relaxation even further, the spa treatments are completely top-tier, delivered by highly skilled therapists who ensure a deeply restorative experience. Throughout our stay, we were treated to flawless service. The entire staff constantly went above and beyond to make our time special, displaying incredible attention to detail and remembering our personal preferences perfectly. The dining experiences were a particular highlight. The culinary teams brought immense joy to our mornings with beautifully prepared regional dishes and exceptional service. They even went so far as to proactively arrange an early room-service breakfast for our 5:45 AM departure. Most remarkably, the kitchen team surprised me by researching and perfectly recreating authentic, comforting dishes from my home in Northern Ireland, which completely blew us away. Additionally, the hotel's transportation service was seamless. Our chauffeur for our eight-day stay was perfectly punctual, professional, and made us feel entirely secure throughout our travels. Thank you to the extraordinary team at The Oberoi. This is officially our favourite hotel in Delhi, and we cannot wait to return.
