The Oberoi, New Delhi

Oberoi New Delhi is my Gateway to curated Oberoi trips to India. From the moment you appear in the arrivals hall to your departure, the team offer a seamless and highly reliable service. However, once you pass through the Gateway, you can pause and enjoy the magnificently appointed hotel, rooms with stunning views and have a deep dive into this teeming city redolent with so much history of this great and ancient civilisation, which provides you with so many insights into humanity where 35 million of its people live. Not only are the rooms magnificently appointed with wonderful, authentic touches as well as the last word in modern appliances, but the food offerings are of the highest quality. 360 has a fantastic array of breakfast offerings, and most importantly to me, provides attentive at seat service. Dhilli combines technique and an authentic understanding of Indian Street food to produce superb outcomes, and this is not Michelin "style over substance"; this is Michelin-level food outcomes cooked authentically, revealing even more of this nation's great food heritage. Many staff in both restaurants and the concierge and reception provided name-checking service, but if I may, I will reserve my most thanks to Arikta and Ajay for their special attention during a busy Diwali and helping to ensure all went smoothly. I look forward to passing through the Gateway next year.

The Oberoi New Delhi is a modern hotel that stands in a green lung near the golf course. It has views over the city but with parks and green space in the foreground - the views and aspects are awesome, a word I do not use lightly. While we were there we could watch the New Delhi half-marathon whilst kites whirled on thermals above. From the very first greeting service was impeccable - one had a real feeling of people caring that you got the very best from your holiday. The Indian food and breakfasts were first class. Whilst I am a traditionalist in architectural preference, this hotel overrode that with immaculate details, exquisite glass screens and a real feeling of design cool. One felt special and privileged for many different reasons. The Oberoi appointed guide was just so smart with real insight and poetic vision from the Red Fort to Jama Masjid he painted a real picture of the culture, the history, the political and what drove the people that built these amazing structures - the scale and beauty defy belief. The Oberoi New Delhi far exceeded any expectations I had before I started my journey.

This wasn’t my first time at an Oberoi hotel but I have to say - the best thing about this trip wasn’t just the beautiful property and facilities but the manager and staff who were the most attentive I have ever experienced. The attention to detail and response to any query was swift and over and above. I was staying alone in the hotel so wanted to ensure I had a safe way to get around the city. The front desk were so helpful arranging a reasonable taxi for me and spoke to the drive and ensured he knew where to take me and also explained the route the driver should take. The housekeeping staff were just so lovely. Really genuinely nice people who want to make sure they get everything right for their guests. And the manager Abhishek was amazing at ensuring everything was comfortable and on point for my stay. Thank you to you all - I would highly recommend Oberoi Delhi to anyone visiting Delhi.

The Oberoi Hotel in Delhi is magnificent and the attention to detail is unmatched. You are greeted upon arrival by staff members and presented with a garland of marigolds. There is a broad of selection of restaurants to suit all tastes. The staff are so attentive that when I left my eye glasses on the nightstand with no eyeglass case I returned to my room to find a handwritten note and a lovely eyeglass case. I have done a great deal of travel and have never experienced service such as this. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at this hotel.
