The Oberoi, New Delhi

One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in a lot of nice hotels. Four Seasons quality with better food and service. The Indians have a great system. You are not expected to tip individuals. If you liked the service, you leave an envelope with the concierge when you check out. The money is then distributed to the entire staff. That process gives everyone the incentive to over perform as a team.

This hotel simply manages everything beautifully - from the 3 a.m. checkin and helping with my frustrations after IndiGo's five hour delay (3 p.m. late checkout to give me the chance to appreciate the room ...) Hot chocolate ready for my late arrival; exceptional buffet breakfast and fascinating Indian restaurant ('Dhilli') ; nice atmosphere in the bar. But these are mere details - it's the overall impression of outstanding customer service, spaciousness and great design that make this the place to stay in ND. Location also good - convenient for the airport. The large Russian presence during my stay (which coincided with this year's Putin-Modi summit in New Delhi) shows others appreciate its charms too ....

It has always been outstanding property with most central location, great food and very warm service attitude where everyone goes extra mile to make you smile and happy.

We just had a fabulous 10-day family vacation touring a piece of magical India (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur). We relied on the Oberoi hotels at every stop except Udaipur, where a celebrity mega-wedding had blocked the whole hotel. The quality of the Oberoi hotels is unparalleled, superb, and made our two generations ecstatic—both my “children” and their spouses in their 30’s and myself, the “mom”, in my 60’s. At our arrival we’ve been greeted like royals by staff who are highly professional and so very friendly. Our needs were fully met by rich breakfast buffets and a variety of gourmet restaurants for our dinners. The stores in the hotels are captivating and offer top quality traditional clothing, jewelry, artifacts. The swimming pools, Spas, steam baths and recreational facilities offered a most pleasant experience at the end of days of intensive tourism. The rooms are gorgeous. The lobbies, gardens, and other common areas are superbly decorated, enchanting, peaceful, inviting, while giving the sense of being in your private house. In Delhi our rooms offered the view of tall trees with flocks of birds flying at dawn and sunset; in Agra every room faced the Taj Mahal beyond the hotel’s garden full of flowers and elements of classical architecture; in Jaipur all rooms were in cottages surrounded by perfectly maintained gardens, fountains, ponds and canals. It is difficult for me to describe the joy we all felt every evening retreating into the Oberoi hotels. Magic! Emotional! Unforgettable! They provided the perfect complement to the beauty of the sites we visited, the people we encountered, the culture we explored, from the moment the Oberoi drivers picked us up at the airport all along our stay.
