We stayed at the Monteleone over Easter weekend. Our feelings about the overall physical property were mediocre. The property is in a fairly good location, at the South end of the French Quarter. INside, the building is getting a little old. Carpet is in need of replacement, and it has that funky old hotel smell. Otherwise not bad. Bathrooms clean. Beds clean but a little small. Our issue is with the service we've received. After checkout and leaving the hotel, we realized that my daughter had left her favorite teddy bear in one of the beds. We called the hotel right away, before boarding our plane. The front desk manager said that the room had not been cleaned, so they would be able to check for the bear. We described which bed it was in and that it was likely still there in the sheets. The desk person promised she would call right back after having the room checked. We tried back right before they closed the plane doors, and were told that the person we spoke to was on break, no one had checked the room yet, and she would call us right back. We boarded our plane, and when we landed, there was no call from the hotel. We tried back, and spoke to the front desk manager again. She said nothing had been found, and after some discussion, it was clear that no one had checked the bed where we said it would be. She said she would go check and call us back "in three minutes". She never called. We called back later, and spoke to a different manager who said the first manager was gone for the day. She did check, but called back and said it was too late, and that the linen service was now closed for the day. She said she would "put it on the managers report" so that they could discuss it the next day to try to find it, and they would call us back the next day. It is now five days later, and they have not called back. I'm sure it is too late to find anything now. I understand that it was our fault for leaving something in the room, but it would have been very simple to have someone run up and look in the room, especially when we explained exactly where it would be. The utter lack of concern for a customer is just not acceptable. We certainly won't be staying here again.

Very pleased with this hotel. The location was central to most of the restaurants we wanted to visit. It was also excellent during the French Quarter Festival. Gerald and Desmond at the front door are the best! Our concerige Anita was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful and the carousel lounge is so lovely. Excellent dining room. Food and service were excellent!

I enjoyed this hotel which is centrally located and close to the action. It is one block from Bourbon Street and it offers a wide range of restaurants and bars around it. The room was comfortable and the staff was pretty friendly. Very classic lobby with plenty of art and luxurious items. Please be aware that Summer time (June-August) is excessively hot and humid and you should wear appropriate clothes to be able to walk the city and enjoy the attractions. I almost melted away and I am used to the 100 F/90 % humidity combination of Miami, Florida.

Came here for a business trip. Located in the center of all of the action. The hotel is beautiful and historic. Staff and service is exceptional. Room was so beautiful - slightly small but comfy with good amenities. Wifi worked great and plenty of outlets to charge laptop and phone. I was in 4th floor and it is a little noisy because of street activity but that is to be expected. Business facilities are ok. Only complaint was temperature - it was either beyond freezing or hot ... no good in between in meeting rooms. Hotel restaurant was perfect and food was always delicious! I would definitely recommend this as a great hotel to stay at especially if you appreciate history. It's also in walking distance of everything which is very convenient.

The perfect place to stay in the French Quarter. Everything is in walking distance, from Bourbon Street (1 block away) to Jackson Square to Frenchmen Street... and if you want to explore other areas of the city, like the Garden District, the streetcar line is closeby as well. Hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere and everyone we met on the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small, but beds were very comfortable and bathroom was recently retiled and looked new... our room and bathroom were clean clean clean! Nice pool area on rooftop with a small bar. We didn't swim but it was a comfortable spot to relax between activities. Very busy lounge in the lobby, the Carousel Bar named because it has a circular bar that revolves like a carousel. Interesting cocktail menu with drinks like Pimm's Cup and a hand mixed Pina Colada.. plus the requisite Abita tap beers. All in all a great hotel, made even greater by the friendly and professional staff. Highly recommend the Monteleone!
