The hotel could use some remodeling. Our guest room was a bit outdated and the bathroom was very small. But the bed was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room taxes are steep. The $286/night ends up being $330.

This was my second time staying at the Monteleone in two years, and it was as good as the first. The rooms are lovely and the hotel exudes charm and elegance throughout. On this trip, on a weekend in December, the hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays and had students from a local school singing Christmas carols in the lobby. Also on this second trip I finally got a seat at the famed Carousel Bar located off the lobby. This bar attracts people from all over the French Quarter to sit at the revolving bar, and it's always packed. The trick seems to be waiting until 6pm on a Sunday. At that time, there were several seats available. The location of the Monteleone is also fantastic. It's two blocks from Canal street and a short walk in the other direction to get to the Cathedral, Jackson Square, Cafe du Monde, and all the great restaurants. Not all rooms at the Monteleone have a view of the city. Many rooms face inward with absolutely no view from the window. This hasn't been an issue for me since I spend all day and most of the night out on the town anyway. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

I visited during Mardi Gras 2017. This is an old historic hotel with a magnificent lobby. The hotel location is great, a block away from Bourbon Street, so you are not away from the action. The room was very disappointing. It looked nice but was small. Two queen beds were crammed in the room where 1 King would have fit comfortably. It also had old cabinets (possibly antique?) which went with the décor, but added to the cramped feeling of the room. Once you add your luggage (and occupants of room), there is little room to move around. Hospitality was great and Mardi Gras atmosphere just buzzes electricity. I knocked off two stars for price and cramped room. Service was great. Monsters (energy drink) hanging on the door knobs of our room when we came back was a nice touch...

Rooms very small and had problems with temperature which we told them 3 days in a row and nothing was done. We purchased 3 rooms and kept getting the run around with even the concierge not getting any attention to it. At the end they took $50 off as we payed over $3000 for the rooms. Not a great gesture for a miserable room.
