Go to Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton if looking for a luxury experience. We stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel on our last visit and thought Monteleone would be similar in elegance and refinement. We were disabused of that idea. The worn and stained carpeting leading from the entrance into the hotel lobby, the obnoxious, entitled male guests bullying the women and the boisterous drunks at the Carousel Bar let us know that this would not be a four, must less a five-start experience. We had heard much about the vaunted history of the Hotel Monteleone but we should have dug deeper. This hotel isn't worth the price and doesn't live up to its online reputation. Be prepared to encounter loud influencers at the Carousel Bar, toxic males in the hotel lobby and a management that caters to all those negative personalities. We even found a bloodstain on a hotel towel AFTER we had used it. We thought it might be from us since it still retained hints of red and we tried washing it but nothing came out. That's when we were truly disgusted by whatever it was. Even the gracious and efficient staff can't make up for those shortcomings. From Juliajoy at the front desk to Tashameika in valet parking, the front of the house staff was solid so there must be something wrong with management. The hotel is running on its history as the "oldest" family run in the French Quarter but stay at a boutique hotel in the French Quarter if you want a restful, dignified stay.

Everything was fabulous The vibe in bar was totally hitting. Jazz band should start earlier. The room was cute and clean. I just love the Monteleone. And New Orleans at Christmas

This is a WONDERFUL hotel! The experience was fabulous all around. We had a large group of 22 celebrating a family milestone birthday. They did a tremendous job ensuring we were all close (same floor). It is in a fabulous spot in the French Quarter, with fabulous food and shopping on the same block. This hotel is in a very safe spot and just a short walk to all the nightlife. Their restaurant was great, bar and live music fantastic (their carousel bar was fun and unique), and their rooftop pool and lounge area was also great. The people at this hotel made this stay special, valet, front desk, bell and door staff, were unbelievably wonderful. The renovated rooms in the Iberville Tower were beautiful and comfortable! So many great spots for a quick bite were just a few steps away (Mena’s, French Truck Coffee, etc). The hotel also stands out well, it was easy to spot their hotel signage from afar when wandering about. We will definitely be back!

We visited for Christmas week and loved our stay at the Monteleone. We had a Vieux Carre suite which had views of both the Quarter and the Mississippi. The room was exceptionally quiet, clean, and comfortable. The rooftop pool was an added bonus since it was quite warm while we were there. Every staff person we interacted with was welcoming and friendly. In the past, we've stayed at a couple of other hotels in the French Quarter (which were fine), but the Hotel Monteleone is now the only place I'd want to stay on future trips.
