We had a lovely return trip to the Monteleone in the french quarter of New Orleans. The front door greeters remembered me from previous stays as well as some of the staff. The hotel is centrally located and is well looked after. The staff are friendlly

hotel monteleoneWill make this as short as I can . When we checked in The room was ok, (just ok) bathroom was so small…… BTW we asked about the bath when we checked in cause I am a big guy , front desk girl said was normal size and nice…… We checked in , as it turns old the bath was extremely small, we unpacked, and went to dinner. When we got back we sat on the beds, and there was serious issues with the beds, it felt like you were on a nosy old wooded boat. We called down to front desk manager, and they moved us to another room, The new room was much better and had bathroom that was a normal size, and the beds were ok . ! But they moved us to a room by the elevators, it was beyond nosey, I assume the hotel was just so busy So again spoke to front desk, they had no rooms to move us to, so we just decided to leave early they said ok, and sorry no problem, they understood... that would have been ok, but here it is……. The day they we check out they added $239 dollars to the bill for and early departure fee I said huh? Spoke to a new manager he was Rude, did nothing and did not care ! We left with being billed and extra day for leaving early .. lol Anyway I called amex when home will dispute the charge. We get the money back ! But in the end the last manager was so rude and bad; I wish I had the name…. But for his great wisdom. It earned this review In the end- summary Rooms were ok. Some rooms are very nosy, due to old thin walls ( hotel was built in the 1800’s ) and I guess many walls or doors have not been updated or better sound proofing , you could not sleep . Some rooms have very tiny baths, and beds that have serious issues. But the worst was the management…. I give the place 3 stars

We found Hotel Monteleone via TripAdvisor and are glad we did. Perfect location, great staff, clean room. We did not get a chance to sit in the Carousel Bar that goes around (maybe because graduation week), but instead used the Criolla restaurant bar and the lounge area between the two bars, both great (and quieter!). We will definitely stay at the hotel if/when we revisit New Orleans.

I'm fairly confident that my room had unseen mold. I had a mild cold upon arrival, which worsened in my room by double or more. Also, I had moths in my room. When I'd leave the room to attend the event, I cleared up. When re-entering my room each night, it dramatically worsened. On the first night, I ordered a criollo hamburger- perfect, delicious. Further, I wasn't aware of the fine print gratuity, so when I saw the very large line for gratuity, I wrote another 20% tip. 20% of a bill that included gratuity already. Sneaky. The second night I ordered the same thing-terrible, overcooked, and missing condiments. I was billed $75 a night for incidentals. I've stayed in many fine hotels, and I have never experienced this pre-billing, and it was not clarified at the front desk before my card was run. I was expecting to pay around $750, and saw a transaction of $990+. I had to call to find out from the matter-of-fact front desk. I was approached for money by homeless while standing in front of the hotel waiting for my Uber. All through the night I heard sirens, screaming pedestrians. All through the day, I heard sirens, screaming pedestrians, and random marching bands. Overall, I've never paid so much for such a small room, with a terrible view, and had so many deficiencies. I've paid much less and received much more in places far more desirable.

Visited for business around the time of Jazz Fest 2017. Staff very helpful - loved the live music in the lounge. Rooms were comfortable but compact. Great for one person - not sure how to get around with more than one occupant. Elegant common space and convenient to the rest of what the French quarter had on offer.
