This luxury hotel lives up to the name. Clean, safe, beautiful. The beds are the most comfortable that I have slept in, maybe ever. Best few days of sleep I have had in years! The only thing that was lackluster was the rooftop pool. The day we got there, there was a bandaid in the bottom of it. When we checked back two days later, the bandaid was still floating around the pool, indicating that it was not being cleaned well. We decided not to get in.

Sublime rooms, great breakfast at the restaurant Crillios, and the cocktails at the Carousel are absolutely iconic. The hotel does a terrific job making sure the lobby and public areas are safe and family friendly, good vibes. The Monteleone is THE hotel to stay in the Quarter, it has a wealth of history and is a crown jewel.

This hotel experience is luxurious from start to finish, but also not "cold" like a lot of high end places & staff. Every employee we interacted with was warm & friendly & helpful! The cleanliness and attention to detail blew me away. 11/10 experience & accommodations!!!

This place is worth every penny. Great experience with checking in, from Valet, to front desk, to bell hope for luggage storage, and finally the concierge. This is the best traditional hotel that I have ever been to. The cleanliness of the room was amazing, the amenities were great with the tub and shower, very comfortable and luxurious. The bed was super comfortable and the pillows were something I can brag about! The rooftop bar and pool were awesome! The drinks were great and the price was fair. I wanted to spotlight Khiya, who we watched help an elderly couple spray on sunscreen and then help the same elderly lady down into the pool, even getting her socks wet! It was a very sweet moment of an employee going way beyond. The stay was short and unfortunately the carousel bar was too packed for us to try. It looked pretty sweet, maybe another time. We had a royal suite which is worth the upgrade, hopefully one day I’ll get back there and stay for more than a day to write a better view about all things Monteleone. It could be a great three day trip without ever leaving the hotel!

Since 1886 on Royal Street in the French Quarter this family-owned hotel has a history of haunting events. The historic hotel has been the location for movies and TV and in works by Hemmingway and Faulkner. When we stayed there for a Viking Mississippi post-cruise extension, the Carousel Bar off the lobby was dim but always busy as New Orlean’s first and only lighted rotating bar (15 minutes a turn) since 1949. Pool, gym and meeting rooms are on the top floor (roof). Entering from Royal Street there are two sets of three steps each up to the main lobby level. I needed some international postage stamps, and when I asked the Monteleone concierge, she directed me to a nearby packing and printing business called Ship Happens. They had everything I needed. My little solo room 846 overlooked the street and while the hotel was quiet, outside music and traffic noise could be heard. There was no space to put my luggage on the provided rack without blocking a closet door, so I put it on the counter beside the desk. The new single pane windows have aluminum frames and when the overnight temperature dropped from the 80s to the 60s, heavy condensation formed on the inside metal and glass. The big heavy hair dryer was as usual, in one of those ubiquitous draw-string bags but there was no bathroom electrical outlet that fitted the dryer plug. Finally found one on the far side of the bed. Why do hotels do this? Otherwise, the room was good, with comfy bed and attentive housekeeping.
