Overpriced, dirty, and rude staff avoid Paid a premium for three nights and got a run-down room with a side of contempt. We arrived during the French Quarter Festival a major annual event the hotel knew was happening to find every street to the property closed. Spent over an hour driving in circles until a police officer helped us through. No heads-up from the hotel, no guidance for guests using valet. Front desk shrugged and offered two drink vouchers. The room was worse: peeling wallpaper in multiple spots, long hairs in the bathroom, and dried snot on the shower curtain (photos attached). I called to report it and was told they'd "already given me drink vouchers" and I "should be happy with what I got." I never cared about the drinks I wanted a clean room. When I asked to speak to a manager, the front desk blocked the escalation. Overcharged, wrong room, filthy bathroom, rude staff. There are far better places in the Quarter for the money. Stay anywhere else.

Best location on Royal, convenient and safe walking distance to dining, shopping, and entertainment in the French Quarter. A very well maintained older luxury hotel with a well-trained, service oriented staff from top to bottom.

Best location, best bar in town, beautiful rooftop pool.

The location is fantastic; we were able to walk everywhere. We stayed on the upgraded side of the hotel, and while the rooms are small, they are very nice, well-appointed, and clean. Additionally, the elevators are impressively fast. I would stay here again, but I’m rating it four stars instead of five because it falls short of a true "full luxury" experience. There are a few areas for improvement: The Lobby and Carousel Bar: The area is extremely busy and feels a bit too public. At this price point, I would prefer the lounge to feel more exclusive to hotel guests. It was nearly impossible to get a drink or find a place to sit, and there is no system for seating—it’s strictly first-come, first-served. While guests can reserve a spot at 10:00 AM, that’s a bit early for most. Implementing a reservation system for guests during peak hours would be a major plus. In-Room Amenities: It would be a nice touch if the rooms included a minibar or snack options. They do provide two bottles of water daily and a Keurig, but more variety is expected in this tier. Lobby Services: To be nitpicky, there is no complimentary water or coffee in the lobby. There is a small essentials shop where you can get coffee, but I was charged $5 for it. If that shop were converted into a small French café or a proper barista station, the charge would feel justified and enhance the luxury atmosphere. Overall, I recommend staying here! These are just a few thoughts on how they could elevate the guest experience.

THIS is the it! The hotel you want to stay at if you like to be greeted from the second you walk in, outstanding staff all around, super clean and makes you feel comfortable and pampered but reasonable priced. Hotel Monteleon is located on Royal Street, which is safe but is perfect walking distance of everything! There is a taxi stand right outside although if you need for anything, ex: airport. Definitely will stay here if I come back to New Orleans!
