Reviews for Hotel Monteleone

Vieux Carré Oasis

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

Our stay at the Hotel Monteleone Was definitely our best stay in the French Quarter yet. The rooms were wonderfully appointed and the hotel staff went above and beyond to see to it that all of our needs were anticipated and met. The location is ideal and you are not kept awake all night from the outside noise. It is a wonderful oasis in the middle of the Vieux Carré,

Love this beautiful, classy hotel!

I was here 3 nights on a work trip. Very friendly staff greets you at this beautiful, classy old hotel. From the men at the front door to the staff behind the front desk to the concierge, I was treated like a special guest. The cleaning staff was also very friendly. My room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The bathroom was a little small, but it was just me, so I was OK with it. I ate breakfast one morning at Criollo Restaurant. Delicious and filling, but expensive. Had a drink one night at the Carousel Bar in the hotel. Really cool, unique place with a rotating bar. Also a nice rooftop pool and bar. Great views. The valet parking is $56. Again, very friendly staff. I highly recommend Hotel Monteleone and will be staying here again!

Event staff needs to be replaced. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

My family hosted a wedding reception at the hotel. When we arrived (via second line) ten minutes before the "contracted start time" of the reception, our guests were denied entry into the room and were left standing in the hallway outside of the closed doors. The staff humiliated the bride and groom, their families, and their guests. As one of the most prestigious hotels in the city, this should have never happened. Someone should be losing their job(s) over this. This is not how you treat guests in the hospitality business. Aside from that, the A/C could not get my room cool enough and the bathroom was very small, which was not acceptable for the amount we paid for the room. On a positive note, everything in our room and the hotel felt very clean and there were no musty odors. Besides the incredibly rude event staff, the rest of the hotel staff was friendly and courteous. I would only recommend this hotel to someone who doesn’t particularly care about the money they’re spending and cares more about the location.

Would stay again!

We had a great stay overall, based on the amazing friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, location, and amenities. We booked multiple rooms in the Iberville Tower for ourselves and extended family (one king suite, one double suite, and two king rooms), and it worked out really well having everyone on the same floor. The only real downside was the view from our room (1527), and it was honestly awful. The bedroom window was small (none in the living area), appeared to be painted shut, and the view was basically pipes, a wall, and the hallway of the next building (see photo). Meanwhile, two of the other rooms in our group (1532 and 1533), just down the hall, had large windows, river views, and lots of natural light. I am guessing that all the rooms in the Iberville tower that end in -27 or -29 have similar views. I do think if the views vary that much, it would be helpful if there were some sort of “no view” or “obstructed view” designation (or pricing difference) so you know what to expect. That said, my husband did point out that we had a direct view into the 14th floor hallway of the Bienville Tower—which is supposedly haunted—so if that’s your thing, maybe it’s a bonus! Everything else was great. The staff were all incredibly nice, the hotel itself is beautiful—historic with really nice modern touches—and everything was very clean. Elevators were quick, suites (especially with the extra half bath) were a great size, and room service was prompt and good. The view of the city from the pool at night was beautiful, as was the pool area. And as everyone mentions, the location is perfect. Overall, we would definitely stay again… just hopefully in a room with a better view next time.
