Excellent Hotel with great service and staff and a location wonderfully placed in the French Quarter. Rooftop pool was a real treat. Our guest room was a bit small but very clean with a comfy bed. A bit pricey depending on the time of year. Would definitely stay there again if I cought a good rate.

This hotel is most definitely a 5 star hotel. The lobby and common areas are stunning, historical and inviting. The lobby and front desk staff are exceptional. The booking experience, directly with the hotel was also very pleasant. Our first room however was a terrible disappointment. Sorry in advance for a lot of detail, but for what you pay for this hotel, I want other travelers to know what to look for. The story turns positive at the end. We booked a Premium double room with a guaranteed view. IMPORTANT NOTE - when checking in, note that not all of the rooms are the same. This is a historical hotel, and you will want to see your room before you unpack. The bathroom was the smallest bathroom I have ever seen. The toilet was angled so that it could fit, but you cannot stand in front of the sink without touching the toilet and shower at the same time. If you close the bathroom door in that room in order to use the bathroom, your knees touch the wall across from the toilet. It was crazy. But we thought - it's the French Quarter, this is a historical hotel, no big deal. Then, that night, we realized our air conditioning was not working. A call placed in the middle of the night was addressed with "for that room, we'd have to send our engineer to you". At 2 am, we did not want to wait. So, we tried to sleep in the 80 degree room. The bed was uncomfortable and tiny. And one more note - the view was a joke. Our room was on the 11th floor, directly above a parking garage - no view AT ALL for $50/more. That next morning, I went to the front desk and found the most wonderful assistant who immediately offered to move us. Our second room was outstanding. Everything that was wrong about our first room was more than addressed by the second room on the 16th floor. The room was gorgeous, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The view was spectacular and hallelujah - the AC worked. I struggled with how to rate the hotel. The hotel itself and all amenities including pool, fitness center etc were first class. The lobby and common areas gorgeous. It has an unbeatable French Quarter location, close to absolutely everything you'd want to do. And the service is amazing. So, overall, the property deserves 5 stars. But avoid premium rooms on the 11th floor. If you pay extra for the Premium room with view, look at the room, bathroom and view before unpacking and settling in. And if you are able to get it, stay in 1601. It's fantastic!

We have stayed at this property several times. We travel to New Orleans several times a year and try different places throughout the city. Monteleone is a standout. You will not beat the value. Every amenity offered is excellent and there are many. From dining to the roof top pool, you will have memories for a lifetime.

I paid $189 dollars for a basic room off season. They have 4 different taxes on that so figure another $20. The room was clean and quiet. Elevators were fast and worked. The restaurant, Criollos, was the worst meal we had on the trip. Yuck. Don't bother. We couldn't get into the bar but saw it. the bar is packed always. The gift store was always closed. The lobby is just gorgeous. The pool was very pretty, but it was too hot to go in. We went during a heat wave, it was very humid, bring multiple changes of cotton clothing.

Outstanding, elegant, FIRST CLASS experience! The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and we were very happy:) Gorgeous rooms, with wonderful beds, very quiet too considering its in a prime location in the heart of the FQ, but just off Bourbon on Royal. The staff are mostly folks that have worked there 25+ years so that speaks volumes to the way Hotel Monteleone treats people....all people. History, Glamour, nice people, great food and drink, location, comfy beds, parking.....what more do you need!! The best hotel in the city of New Orleans....No question!!!!
