Good spot for Mardi Gras

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Stayed here for a night prior to a cruise departing the port the next day. At the time I made the reservation, I was completely clueless that it was in the middle of Mardi Gras! Our room faced St. Charles Avenue, and though we couldn't really see the parade from our level (4th floor), we sure could hear it! I simply went downstairs and watched the parades, since I was sure not to get any sleep until they were done, anyway. It made a great base of operations for anyone wanted to view the parade (nice to have my own bathroom). Once the parades were over, I retreated to the room and we had a great night's sleep in the comfortable bed. Front desk staff were friendly and were able to recommend a good cafe down the street for lunch. Kevin, the doorman, was very helpful!

I canceled my visit and they emailed me and it said I would get my deposit back with 30 days. I have called and emailed several times. They tell me they are behind and will pay me shortly- it has been over 6 months. I have spoken to the manager after several calls/ he passed me to refunds that has been over 3 months

Anniversary Trip

Our experience at the Lafayette Hotel was wonderful! Guest Services were nice and friendly upon arrival. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Our room was clean while we were away and new towels were brought in. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back most definitely.

First time in New Orleans

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

When you book be aware that parking is $40 a night. They mention possible parking charge but never the amount. When booking be aware that rooms facing the street are very noisy. The street car runs all night, dragging of trash containers and people yelling along with the cars playing loud music during the night. TV signal was iffy and the previous persons Utube account was still accessible which should have been wiped clean after checkout. I will say the staff was great! Very friendly and Kevin the door man was really helpful.

Functional, but nothing special

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

First thing to make clear is that the staff were all very friendly and eager to help, definitely a highlight of the hotel! Otherwise, whilst this is not a bad hotel, it is thoroughly average. The room was nice and big, and the bed was comfortable. However, it was also a very dark room, and with only single glazing, it was quite noisy (although it was mostly constant white noise of an air conditioning unit or equivalent, which was fine for me, but might irritate others). The room was clean, but only "functionally clean", in that it didn't feel as clean as it could have. Although perhaps more of a reflection of the fact that the hotel is quite worn around the edges more than anything else. During the 5-night stay, the room was not tended to at all, and I am sure I could have requested it, but it did mean that I needed to request (and collect) provisions (e.g. shampoo) when they inevitably ran out. This was all fine, however, perhaps a bit unexpected given that Google seems to rate this as a 4-star hotel, which it certainly is not. Overall, this is a perfectly functional hotel that is relatively well situated, but it is nothing special.
