The staff couldn't be nicer or more friendly or more professional. The room (a King Size bed in a suite is a little drab, not too fresh looking and terrible lighting in the living room area. Impossible to read newspaper even with the window coverings open on a cloudy day. I expected with the remodel for the room to be nicer.

We stayed here one night and were very pleased with our stay. The room (king bed) was enormous for NY - really, like an alcove studio that I could live in pretty happily. We declined to pay the extra $15 for a high floor, and were given a third floor room facing 50th Street near the corner of Lexington. I loved it - very quiet! I do live in a city and so am used to street noise, but really, there was virtually none - it's a pretty quiet neighborhood. I actually enjoyed looking out at the street, and was delighted to have the view and light - so nice compared to many dark hotel rooms that look directly out at a brick wall or air shaft. The white marble bathroom was very pretty, and the kitchenette (with a full size refrigerator) was attractive, too. I didn't have a huge need for a kitchenette on our one night stay, but it was nice to fix our coffee and pastry there in the morning and it could be very convenient for a longer stay or traveling with kids. The bed was slightly soft for my taste, but I had a great night's sleep all the same. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient - very convenient to the subways we needed to take and on a direct subway line from Penn Station. We didn't go to the attached restaurant, but there were lots of coffee/bakery/breakfast options nearby. Everyone working there was very pleasant. We really enjoyed this classic old NY hotel.

I've stayed in a few hotels in NYC and this is my favorite one to date. Spacious rooms with a kitchenette, comfortable bed, GREAT location, and the staff were all very attentive. I will definitely book this hotel again

Stayed 2 nights. Hotel is clean, rooms beautiful and staff attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel. Conveniently located near 5th avenue shopping, short walk to central park. Many great restaurants in the vicinity.

Very comfortable and well managed, conveniently located, and our favorite in New York City because of its reasonable rates. It also has a pleasant restaurant. On a recent visit our room was a bit small and difficult to cool for sleeping at night.
