Nice jumping off point for sightseeing in NYC, just a short walk from Broadway theaters, times square, central park. It might be a little far east for some, but it was perfect for us. I liked that it was quiet at night. Coffee shop next door (Demarco's) and a Duane Reade up the street one block. The hotel staff were very welcoming, especially the concierge who went out of her way to get us tickets to the new Whitney museum. The rooms are large for NYC standards, too! And you're also able to crack the windows - something that comes in handy even in winter. This is an old building and they tend to get a little stuffy. The room came with a kitchenette with a coffee machine.

I stayed here the weekend of 3/24 through 3/26. I had a one bedroom suite that was very clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic and the staff was so friendly. I would highly recommend this place. As far as noise comments that I read before staying here, it is NYC....there really is nothing you can do about the honking horns and sirens. By the end of the day we so exhausted we slept great as the beds were comfortable. Felt like a "home" and we were right outside the craziness and fun that Manhattan has to offer.

I'm delighted I opted to stay at the Benjamin. Hotels in NY can be touch and go, even the ones that purport to be 4*, this was everything it said it would be and more. There were a couple of little glitches, which can happen anywhere, but the way they were resolved were just off the scale in good customer service and showed the staff and management are genuine and care very much about their customers.

Stay at the Benjamin and you will not regret it! Great location, great service, you will feel pampered, and don't miss out on room service! I recommend a suite but all rooms are nice. Recent weekend stay was so quiet I forgot that I was in NYC! Enjoy!!!

We have stayed here repeatedly, and I'd like to continue to stay here due to its location and helpful assistance each day from doorman Angelo; however, there are a few things that the Benjamin is lacking!!! This last trip, our family was enjoying having dinner in our room, and around 7:45 we received a call from the front desk that a neighbor had turned in a noise complaint. Now...we were only eating dinner in our living room area, and the most noise we could have possibly been making was laughing while sharing funny stories with one another from our day sightseeing. My sister went down to the front desk that evening and apologized, and we were told that the person that took the call came up to our floor and could not hear any noises coming from our room. So my question is this...shouldn't the manager have explained to our neighbor that they would not disturb our room until it was at least 8pm? After all, we're in a bustling city with lots of noises. Laughter coming through the wall should not be a cause for a noise complaint. This call quickly ruined our appetites and put a HUGE hamper on the rest of our trip while in the hotel, for we barely talked above a whisper for the next five days while we were there. Another cause of complaint: there is a new daily $10 surcharge to the room that can only be redeemed at The National restaurant. THIS IS NOT ON THEIR WEBSITE, SO YOU WILL NOT SEE THIS CHARGE UNTIL YOU CHECK IN! This is really ridiculous, unless one is planning to dine at The National, which we do not. It's just an additional, unnecessary fee! If one stays there for 7 days at an avg of $300/night, then that's an additional $70 for nothing, unless you try to do as we do and purchase one drink from the bar each night. Of course, we purchased more than that...there were four of us in the room...it's price gouging! Management, PLEASE CONSIDER REMOVING THIS REDICULOUS FEE! So I would recommend this hotel, if you don't mind being quiet 24/7 and if you don't mind paying another additional surcharge. I recommend your getting to know Angelo, for he's a huge compliment to the hotel, and he will help you in any way he can when needing a car, confirming which car is your Uber ride, or just need a quick tip to get somewhere. He's always there to greet us each morning as we leave and welcome us back to the Benjamin.
