A nice small quiet hotel well located on the upper East Side. It has been nicely renovated and is quite contemporary. There is a nice place for Breakfast or lunch next door. It is in a great location, near things we like to do. Theaters, shopping, MOMA. Will go back

Having found a great deal online, I switched from my usual NYC hotel and decided to give the Benjamin a try. First impression at the kerbside was great. Friendly staff greeted me, took my bags and introduced me to reception staff. Check in was friendly, swift and efficient too. The lobby felt cool and upmarket. My room on the 15th floor was a generous size for Manhattan but a little tired feeling. Couldn't say what exactly, but it didn't have the same feel as the lobby. Huge comfy bed, well stocked mini bar and snack selection. One problem became immediately apparent though, the noise from the street 15 floors below. Even with all the windows tightly closed, it felt like the cars and sirens were right outside. I used the fitness suite which was adequate for a hotel of the this standard and the National in house restaurant was very good. Room service too, quick and delicious. Overall, a good solid 4 but definitely not a 5 and not "special". Sorry!

My husband and I took our teenagers to Manhattan for Spring Break. One of them was looking forward to going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The other wanted to see as many Broadway shows as she could fit into the stay. The Benjamin was located in just the right spot for us to feel comfortable letting them head out each day to join the beat of the city and explore the places they longed to see. We also went to Soho, Brooklyn and Chinatown but the hotel was located so close to the subway, these destinations were easy too. My favorite part was returning to the hotel at the end of a great day for a glass of wine in the hotel's restaurant/bar. It offers a bistro atmosphere as well as a well planned menu for both the beginning and end of the day. I would be happy to recommend the Benjamin to any of my friends.
