Fantastic hotel in midtown Manhattan just down the street from grand central station. Friendly staff and lovely accommodations. The brunch in The National restaurant was amazing. Will return again someday

We are eternally grateful to Sarah the concierge... Our plane was taking off and my wife left her purse with her drivers license at the hotel and we could not get on the plane. She drove to the airport with it herself! Lifesaver!!!! THANK YOU SARAH !!!!

Great location. Lots of street traffic. Walk to Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave.; Times Sq short distance. Pick up Grayline tours 1 block away for hop on hop off tours. BED extremely comfortable! Some construction at front right now but minimum noise. Friendly Bellhops, cleaning staff. Ask Tom, concierge, for any directions you need. Sarah, also. Cab to Central Park 10 to $15 with tip. Or walk! Very pleased with this hotel. Great street view in some rooms. Do not recommend hotel restaurant but 2 blocks away is Ashly's hot and fresh foods for quick meal. Also La Cucina, lower level at Rockefeller Center has terrific breakfast! Be sure to go to FRAME Gourmet Cafe in Times Sq for fresh and quick lunch.

Pros: location is convenient and well-placed (next to the former Waldorf-Astoria hotel; walkable to Central Park, off of Park and Madison avenues), doormen are polite and helpful, desk staff polite and friendly, elevators efficient and frequent (and historically styled), unique history and interesting family ties re: the hotel's legacy, other guests generally quiet, pet-friendly, kitchenette in room means making/having your own snacks is easy (which was a big plus), efficient air conditioning, pillow program good in theory. Cons: housekeeping not great (the coffee filter had not been cleaned in our room since the prior guest), exterior/street-facing rooms not sound-proofed, hotel bar closed by 10:30pm, poor dinner recommendation from Concierge (more so the restaurant staff's fault), lack of sufficient umbrellas when it rained, room had not been thoroughly cleaned since prior guest had stayed, carpet had singe-marks, HVAC very loud, pillow program didn't work well in practice (we had three pillows at the start of our stay, inexplicably lost one, asked for more in an even number, got three more - likely housekeeping issue), toiletries attached to shower wall, shower wall leached brownish residue when first used.

From start to finish, I've been impressed with this Hotel! The hospitality upon booking, to checking in was incredible. Working with their "Concierges" made life easy to navigate and when problems arose, not anything due to their doing, they managed refunds and even sent up complimentary gifts for our inconvenience. Would definitely recommend them to my friends! Pricing was less but the quality was not!
