3-week stay at the Benjamin

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I recently spent three weeks at the Royal Sonesta and it truly felt like a home away from home. As a Platinum member, I was generously upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom corner king suite, which made such a long stay incredibly comfortable. Our room was always spotless each day, thanks to Cheryl in housekeeping. What really sets this hotel apart though is the staff. After just a short time everyone seemed to recognize us and greet us by name, which made the experience feel personal and warm. At The Parliament, Said, Carlos, Elizabeth, and Dimitri were always so kind and genuinely happy to see us. They took the time to recommend nearby spots that we ended up trying and every single one was fantastic. Teju, the bellman, was also amazing. He was incredibly kind, helpful, and always greeted us with a smile while assisting with anything we needed throughout our stay. And a special shoutout to Ivan at the front desk, who consistently made sure we were taken care of and went out of his way to make our stay seamless. Staying somewhere for three weeks really gives you a sense of how a place operates day to day, and the Royal Sonesta exceeded expectations across the board. Exceptional service, wonderful people, and a stay we won’t forget. We will absolutely be back and this will now be our regular place to stay whenever we’re in NYC.

Great hotel, great staff, great location.

The Benjamin Hotel was a lovely surprise. From the friendly doorman who greeted us with a smile to the front desk staff our experience was first rate. The hotel is conveniently located near two subway stations and Grand Central. The suite we stayed in was beautiful and the cleaning staff was friendly and efficient. It also had a nice gym for a quick workout and a very good restaurant where we had a delicious celebratory dinner. The hotel is located near many restaurants where you can get a cup of coffee, healthy meal or bagel and cream cheese if you like. An enjoyable stay is centered around a friendly hotel staff. The Benjamin Sonesta’s staff is terrific!

Excellent family stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I did lots of research before our 6 day/5 night stay in the city. The hotel met every criteria and exceeded expectations. The location was ideal, the room was clean and spacious. We wanted to spread out in between our sightseeing and it offered the perfect place for us to recharge. The staff was so wonderful! I will stay here again and again!

Just OK

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Was a bit surprised the reviews were so great. The rooms are big (or at least mine was) and nicely decorated for the price. Nicely stocked on snacks, etc. (which are not free). Coffee and tea machine in room was appreciated. However, overall the rooms and bathrooms are older looking and feeling. Bathroom was a bit dirty. Water pressure wasn’t great. Thermostat didn’t allow me to change modes and coldest it went was 68. Very small front desk and when leaving attendant was nowhere to be found. Old windows are not soundproofed at all so it was very loud at night with street noise.

Espresso martinis with Carlos at the bar

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a wonderful stay at The Benjamin Hotel..elegant, calm, & perfectly located. A special shout-out to Carlos, the bartender at the hotel restaurant bar. He truly elevated the experience. Carlos is warm, attentive, & incredibly skilled—he makes fantastic espresso martinis and has a natural way of making guests feel welcome and taken care of. Whether it was a classic drink or something custom, everything he served was spot-on, and the conversation and energy he brought to the bar made it a place I actually looked forward to visiting each evening. If you’re staying at The Benjamin, don’t skip the bar…and definitely sit with Carlos. He’s a gem. I will definitely return to the Benjamin & Carlos’s espresso martinis.

My stay was amazing. The only problem was with the room phones. I could not get them to work.

The hotel is in an excellent location, and the staff are extremely friendly and willing to assist with anything during your stay. They sent us a treat with a balloon and a handwritten note when they learned we were celebrating our anniversary. The rooms are very comfortable, renovated, and notably larger than many hotels in the city. I would definitely stay there again on a future visit.
