Chambers Hotel in New York City, New York

Even though you’re blocks from the Museum of Modern Art and scores of top-notch restaurants, Chambers Hotel makes a convincing argument for staying in. There are more than 500 works of art scattered throughout the public spaces and the guestrooms by luminaries including Bob and Roberta Smith, Sheila Pepe and John Newsom. The rooms themselves are modern and loft-like, reminiscent of a real New York apartment, only with affable service (nightly turndown with chocolates and bottled water, anyone?) Downstairs, Má Pêche, a member of culinary innovator David Chang’s collection of hotspots, serves memorable French-Vietnamese fare.

If you’ve booked a deluxe room, you’ll wake up to skyline views of Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Take your morning stretches to a new level with an in-room yoga instructor or take advantage of your guest access and visit the New York Health & Racquet Club. Amble downstairs for coffee and a confection from Milk Bar, which is no ordinary affair – maybe you’ll be tempted by the cult favorite Crack Pie or some cereal milk ice cream. Hit the three B’s – Bloomingdale’s, Barney’s and Bergdorf’s. Return for a dinner of small plates, where trout roe is accompanied by rice, crosnes and jalepeño.

My wife and I were at The Chambers Hotel spending the weekend. First of all perfect location. Close to Central Park and 5th Ave and more. Staff was amazing very friendly and helpful! I was very pleased. Front desk will help you with anything from pre-arrival needs and more. We would definitely visit again. Rooms were clean and decent! Hip place.

This hotel was a good find for me. Exactly what i wanted, and where i wanted. Location is more than ideal if you want that side of town. I'm quite a regular to NY but had never come across Chambers before. The room was spacious (king) - however the view was a bit rubbish. I was on the 7th floor so directly above the floor that offered rooms with patios. That felt slightly restrictive for me if and when people floor below are sitting outside. Another negative was no coffee machine in the room. That needs to change!! One nespresso machine for the whole hotel up until 11am is not sufficient. Now on to positives which by far outweigh the little niggles i mentioned. There is an endless supply of bottled water. Amazing staff. The bed was super comfy, the toilet was well stocked and the pressure in the shower is out of this world. The window fully open and feel like a french balcony even though it's not really! Very smart. The staff are an asset to this hotel and should all be commended. Ty in particular, makes everyone feel like a friend and the atmosphere in the lobby is lovely because of him mainly. All the staff had great recommendations and were super accommodating with luggage and other minor requests from us. Check in and check out was a breeze. The staff went out of their way to accommodate whatever niggles came along the way throughout out stay. Breakfast was good we tried it twice in a one week period. Venue for breakfast is underground and horrible to say the least. Does the hotel very little justice. I would 10000% stay again and recommend this hotel. Give me a better view next time though ;)

Very nice hotel. Close to trump tower, some nice places to eat, good central "hub" for getting to times square and other sites, and the subway. They do offer a turn down service which was a pleasant surprise. Yes it is a little noisy as others have mentioned but nothing we cohldnt live with. We were on the 5th floor. Amazing bath products(gel and shampoo) as well as bath salts for soaking. There are no microwaves or a true fridge in the room. The mini fridge that is there is stocked with stuff for you to buy. The front desk was kind enough to pop a bag of popcorn for us and bring to our room. Amazing doorman Daniel! He was nice and knew places for us to go and eat!Only reasons for not giving 5 stars-supposedly we had taken things out of fridge and were charged for them(which we did not) and the bathroom we a lil dirty and outdated. For the price we paid I guess I expected a little bit more. It would not deter us from staying again. As others have mentioned....the name of the hotel is not easily visible so out driver had a hard time finding exact stop at front door.

The hotel is brilliant, classy and has two restaurants which are pretty good. Location wise it is convenient, close to Trump tower. I got a brilliant deal from booking.com, not sure if it is offered on tripadvisor as well. Will be returning.

Strengths... Fantastic location. Excellent reception. People saying hello all the time. Great size room for NYC. Well decorated. Feels funky and hip. Small hotel with 7 rooms per floor; so don't feel like you are in grand central station. Milk Bar icecream is unique and excellent. Free Wifi is is great. I paid about $400/day for a King Bed room and stayed for a week. It's Fair value for midtown NYC/ 2 blocks from the Park on 5th Ave. I would stay here again. Things that Need work - 1. lots of noise. Woke up at 4:30 with garbage truck. Daily 6:30am or so construction next door on new building. Not sure what the hotel can do about it so just an FYI. Bring along a sound machine unless you are a hard sleeper. 2. Only have cable... no video on demand. They have a selection of disks - but very limited selection. Too old school. They should upgrade video services in the room. 3. TV should be on a swivel otherwise you have to sit on the bed to watch TV. Too restrictive. 4. They should include breakfast in room-rate. I paid routinely $40. One day I got two bowls of fruit, a latte, side of eggs and toast and that was $40. $4 for 2 toasts. They should rethink the prices. Feels a bit aggressive. 5. Decor feels low-end. Ma-Peche feels like a college cafeteria. Maybe some like this look but for a $40 breakfast I wanted at least some color and plush chairs... 6. I couldn't find a room service menu so did not try it. There are excellent restaurants all over the place in the neighborhood so did not miss that. All in all a good choice for mid-town NYC.
