Chambers Hotel in New York City, New York

Even though you’re blocks from the Museum of Modern Art and scores of top-notch restaurants, Chambers Hotel makes a convincing argument for staying in. There are more than 500 works of art scattered throughout the public spaces and the guestrooms by luminaries including Bob and Roberta Smith, Sheila Pepe and John Newsom. The rooms themselves are modern and loft-like, reminiscent of a real New York apartment, only with affable service (nightly turndown with chocolates and bottled water, anyone?) Downstairs, Má Pêche, a member of culinary innovator David Chang’s collection of hotspots, serves memorable French-Vietnamese fare.

If you’ve booked a deluxe room, you’ll wake up to skyline views of Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Take your morning stretches to a new level with an in-room yoga instructor or take advantage of your guest access and visit the New York Health & Racquet Club. Amble downstairs for coffee and a confection from Milk Bar, which is no ordinary affair – maybe you’ll be tempted by the cult favorite Crack Pie or some cereal milk ice cream. Hit the three B’s – Bloomingdale’s, Barney’s and Bergdorf’s. Return for a dinner of small plates, where trout roe is accompanied by rice, crosnes and jalepeño.

The room is of a good size although needs some extra closet space. The location of the hotel is ideal for whoever wants to stay mid-town near the park, the MOMA and 5th Ave stores. The doorman and receptionist were extremely helpful

This place is sort of a first cousin to the Aloft style of hotel, only better. Yes, the rooms are small and a little under lit, but all is made up for by an outstanding staff. Everyone from the doorman, to the desk, to the maids are friendly and caring. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are quiet as a tomb. Location is very close to Central Park.

We stayed at Chambers for the first time and loved the location. To our surprise, we received a free upgrade to stay in the duplex penthouse, wow, what a treat! It has a full length balcony in the living area, we didn’t get to enjoy the balcony as it was a blustery day. The rain shower is very nice. Will definitely stay here again when visiting NYC.

We recently had a three day stay at the Chambers. The hotel is in a fantastic location within walking distance to the theater district and Central Park. The rooms were well appointed, clean and QUIET! The hotel decor was hip and I really appreciated the original Art throughout and in our rooms. Moreau at the front desk helped us navigate our entire weekend. He gave us walking directions, made restaurant reservations, recommendations and printed museum tickets for us. In fact, all of the staff were very helpful. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway before my hip surgery. The hotel is in a great location for those who want to see the sights in NYC. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed, spacious bathroom for a NYC Hotel, and I liked the play with quirky lighting. The other cool thing was the architect style desk complete with a roll of paper to write or draw on! We had a corner room which had lots of light. I recommend to request a high floor if facing 56th Street if you do not like the sounds of the city on a Saturday morning. I would definitely stay here again.
