Amazing stay in the Theater District

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This was our first stay at the Chatwal and it won't be our last I am sure. We travel to NYC every couple of years to binge on theater and see the stars perform who don't visit our local theater. Times Square is the perfect are to stay for this but our concern is always the noise coming into our room. The Chatway is just a half block from Times Square so I had concerns. Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted by Michael Karaduzovic the doorman. He quickly escorted us to the front desk where our check-in was handled very efficiently. As soon as we entered we left the noise of the city outside. It was wonderfully quiet. We booked through the Amex fine hotel program and we received a room upgrade. Although our room was not ready for check-in at noon ( a perk offered by Amex when available) a request was put in to expedite the readiness of the room and within an hour it was ready. Every staff member we met greeted us with a smile and Michael in particular greeted us my name each time we saw him. We stayed 4 nights and had breakfast each day in the hotel in the Lambs Club dining room. The restaurant staff members were terrific and over the 4 days learned our little wants and desires and fulfilled them without our mentioning them more than once. Little things like bringing cinnamon for my wife's coffee and lime for our water and steamed milk for the coffee all delivered without us asking except for the first day. One day we went out and somehow had accidently put the do not disturb light on. We came back late and saw our room had not been serviced. Within minutes of our calling and explaining to the front desk our room was quickly serviced. As my wife is allergic to feathers we needed alternative pillows. Again, our request was quickly handled with two additional types of pillows delivered to the room. We had dinner in The Lambs Club one night prior to going to the theater. The prix menu was perfect and the food delicious. All prepared, served and completed with time for us to walk to the theater. While we did not use the Spa services, I did use the gym each day. It is small but I was able to use a treadmill and weight machine without a problem. I wish I had more names to share but honestly the entire staff who worked during our stay from May 25 to May 29th were amazing.

The perfect hotel in Manhattan

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Top location to stay in the city. Perfectly located for Manhattan. Quiet despite its proximity to Times Square. We had three rooms for my extended family. The breakfasts are fantastic. Restaurant quality, not hotel quality. The staff were excellent. The front desk were very helpful. Michael Karaduzovic always met us with a smile on his face and a helpful suggestion.

Great location and staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This iconic hotel is located in the best part of the City for access to the most-popular attractions. Although busy, the street is relatively quiet. The service was excellent. Although the room is clearly dated and needs some refurbishment, it was comfortable. Some improvements are needed. For instance, the electronics in the room did not work, the furniture is well worn and the butler was not very responsive when called. There does not appear to be a house car anymore but we didn't need it anyway. The pool area is very small but was well attended to with very nice staff. I enjoyed conversing with the staff who were all very pleasant. Nice bartender and drink area. Although in the heart of Town, this hotel is boutique enough that you almost feel like you are the only one staying there. I will be back.

Outstanding boutique hotel in premier location. Beautiful facility - exceptionally well run. Most courteous staff - we were on a first name basis with all within a day! Walking distance to great restaurants, Theatre District and Times Square. Highly reccomend.

Not worth the money paid.

No one cleaned or restocked our suite. Strange clicking sound at 3 or 4 am woke me up one night. Staff at the restaurant at breakfast was not very friendly. I wanted to like this place. Most staff are nice. But not worth the money for what you get.
