Reviews for The Chatwal, A Luxury Collection Hotel, New York
+ fabulous bathrooms, very good breakfast (only a la carte), great with the car service starting at 2 PM taking you anywhere in Manhattan in a ratio of 20 blocks, very quiet although close to Times Square, very well equipped mini bar, big wardrobes, free newspaper of guest's choice every morning, nice ambience, friendly staff (although some a bit junior), nice little pool - not all rooms have a view, actually none of the family rooms (you look into the side wall of the building next to the hotel), there was nothing extra for the kids (no turn down, no treats, no kids menu etc.) as a matter of fact, it wasn't even possible to get a smaller portion of a regular dish...

I was so excited for this hotel and the staff were great throughout the booking, check-in and stay experienced. However, the hotel disappointed and I ended up moving to a different hotel for subsequent stays. I knew the location would suck (right in Times Square), but hoped the hotel would outweigh that. However, while it was quite opulent there just wasn't much personality to it and it was quite dark. The rooms were large - much larger than most hotels in Manhattan - but the space was often poorly used. So in all, this was still a very nice hotel but expensive, super touristy location, and dark.

I was looking forward to staying at this hotel after reading all the reviews i had read on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. The second we entered the hotel we felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. We weren't given the attention or service I would expect from a luxury hotel (and I stay in hotels all the time), instead we got rolling eyes when asking requests and staff generally ignoring us when possible. Having said that, the room was spacious and clean and well appointed. At one point the toilet blocked and it took them an hour to come and fix it. Also, at one stage during our stay they were testing the fire alarm system. The alarm was going off intermittently and the light was flashing in our room. Given that there was NO communication that testing would be happening we grabbed our stuff and went downstairs to only then be informed it was a test. In my humble opinion I think you can get more value for your money at other hotels in midtown, there are plenty of them!!

There cannot be enough nice things to say about this fine luxury hotel. Minutes from Broadway, the convenience of not having to shuttle across town before a show was a godsend. The staff were the nicest I have ever met in the city, and I have traveled there quite a bit. The room was spotless, the amenities were off the hook. They really know how to make a stay in the city one to remember. Highly recommend!!

This luxury collection property should be a poster child for Starwood's LC Portfolio. This is small boutique hotel where the attention to detail has been perfected. The elegant seasonal decor sets the tone as soon as you arrive. The staffs training is evident as everyone is in sync- all good vibes. The concierge is amazing, great recommendations and great seats for the theatre. We picked this property because we were on a 4 day theatre trip, the location was perfect for this. LAVISH bathrooms (didn't want to leave the bathroom). Well appointed bedrooms. My husband loved the complimentary show shine/polish, the boxed delivery is a nice touch. Nice restaurant and bar. HIGHLY recommend this property. I look forward to returning in the fall.
