We had a room at the front of the Hotel and the noise from the construction site was a huge problem. You could not sit and relax on the balcony, or have a conversation whilst they were working. Our fridge door didn't shut properly and the ice melted and soaked the carpet. The maintenance man moved a bottle in the fridge and declared it fixed. The door was actually broken and not fixed at all! The air conditioning unit on the floor also leaked and the carpet there was also soaked. This was unable to be fixed straight away. We had booked Bed and Breakfast a year ago, however new management refused to acknowledge this and we were denied any breakfast. we were offered a downgraded room to move to as this was all that was available. Very poor accommodation for a 4* hotel. We contacted our travel agent who we had booked through and they changed our Hotel after the first night. This led to further problems. The travel agent had paid in advance, but we were also charged and it was taken off our card without authorisation. The travel agent contacted them again and decided to pay again there and then so that we could have a refund straight away. The receptionist refused to acknowledge the payment had been made. Horrendous experience. After waiting in reception for 2 hours whilst reception and our travel agents tried to sort it out I eventually demanded to see the manager. This finally gave us our refund. The hotel at one point had been paid 3 times for the same room for the same night. Disgusting situation and extremely poor communication. Would never ever stay there again.

Large room for NYC, with an open air patio on the 18th Floor, nice view down 58th St., large windows, very clean and the roof deck was really cool. Ask for the patio rooms facing the front when you book. Very close to everything in Midtown.

I booked a superior king bed with Terrace and I was given a small room with half balcony facing a brick wall not a terrace( see photo ). As a gold + member at Expedia and the hotel categorized VIP GOLD + hotel I supposed to upgraded but there was nothing. Moreover, I booked a room for two people my wife and I again the room one robe and one slipper all accommodating for one person. Never again

The Gotham is in the ideal location for all visitors to NYC. Its ideally placed, its in a relatively quiet spot and is close to Times Square and all of its magical aurora. The staff are really helpful especially as New York has been taken over by the TIP CULTURE meaning that customer services comes a long way behind any financial gain. The staff here are totally the opposite and we couldn't have found a more helpful set of staff from the bell boys to the reception staff and cleaners. Room was great, plenty of space, bathroom was spotless with a large walk in shower, it had the most comfortable of beds ever that was so huge it could fit 5 in it ! Even had a mini bar which we didn't have to use but it is there if you want it and the prices are comparable to others nearby if not a little cheaper. We have just got back and the temperatures were in the 90's so the cold blast of cold air was a welcome relief from the aircon. Highly recommended and if we go again the The Gotham is the hotel for me.
