Stayed at this hotel 7 nights: from April 26th to May 3rd 2018. We are outraged at the Hotels.com site which advises hotels without saying the major drawbacks and without checking the correspondence of the stars that the hotel claims, for The Gotham 4.5 stars. We asked for a suite with a quiet terrace on the upper floors, a month before, also with a note at the hotel as we arrived on the night of April 27th. The management assigned us the first suite, the lowest and the noisiest, exploiting our late check-in. The big surprise was that in W 46th Street, right in front of the hotel, a big building is in complete repair and the work lasts day and night, including those with the jackhammers, as well as the delivery of the equipment by huge trucks with trailer. Hotels.com should be honest and treat its guests by informing them (not hiding the flaws), while it seems that the only purpose of this reservation system is to collect the commission. In addition, this hotel is by no means a 4-stars hotel for the following reasons: The hotel does not have a lobby (just 2 little benches in front of the desk). No maintenance of the rooms (handle of the broken terrace during all the stay, heating broken down for 4 days) The refuelling (toilet paper, coffee, soap) is not done (it is always necessary to ask). There is not a breakfast room. Nobody said that there is one.The cleaning of the room is very bad.

Stayed here for a long time in May. Horrific. Every type of complaint that I made has already been made by someone else on this site. To begin, The Toilet. It was faulty and couldn't even handle a test flush without any prior use. Frequently had to leave hotel to search for public toilets. On one occasion after peeing in the toilet and depositing a few sheets of paper in it, the toilet brought back up other people's feces and belched them over the floor and my property. On another occasion I sat on the bed while listening to someone pumping out bile and sloshing it into a garbage bag they'd brought up. Second, The Freezing Showers. The shower system seemed faulty. Warm water was available on the first day and then never again, despite using the exact same settings. Third, The Dirty State. After a housekeeping session, it was normal for rubbish to be left uncollected, for replenishment of room items (like toilet paper) to be forgotten (despite repeated reminders) and for parts of the room to be ignored (like the shower, which was never cleaned despite how long we stayed). And finally, the crescendo that was The Unimaginably Rude Staff. I politely reported all issues from the second day that we were there but nobody followed up to see if our experience was improving. I think this description of our check-out process does a good job of summarising how poorly we were treated: HOTEL: Did you enjoy your stay? / US: No. It was disappointing, if we were being honest, just as we have reported to you throughout our whole stay. / HOTEL: (Squares eyes) What? / US: It was disappointing, if we were being honest. / HOTEL: (Rolls eyes) Well it was all paid in advance so that's done now.

About to have our last night in this lovely hotel. Great room with a balcony for some fresh air. Fantastic service from the guys on reception and the door service. The other half and I would definitely book this hotel again. We really have no complaints.

stayed here with a friend just for two nights. it was a bit last minute so we didn't really do much research but we ended up choosing the hotel by chance. it is a nice hotel with comfy beds and the location is really good. Our view was terrible, but we were out all the time so it doesn't matter that much. It wasn't super cheap but then it is NYC! And maybe youd get a better deal booking more in advance.

Was here for three nights. Never once had hot water in the bathroom. Complained twice but nothing done. There was a welcome note in my room for a previous guest which was there for the duration of my stay but I never got one. Says it all!
