The staff at Gotham Hotel is incredibly friendly and make for an overall great experience. The room is quite large for NYC. Be mindful that balconies on the backend of the building have absolutely no view.

Wonderful staff, with special mention to Aditya our doorman, Max and front desk staff, Karissa and Clarissa! Perfect location, comfy bed and room was fabulous! I will definately stay at this hotel again.

I decided to book here based on review info and I’ll share some things to help other guests. Hotel is a small independent so it’s not your typical chain with a big lobby and common areas. I booked a skyline junior suite and had the 10th floor with a huge private terrace but limited view. It is across from a major construction project but that didn’t bother me or keep me from sitting outside. The king bed was so comfortable and I slept so well the three nights I was there and that’s not typical when I travel ! I turned the thermostat fan on and that kept any street noise from being an issue. (The room itself is pretty sound proof) Some areas of improvement would be DUSTING! Some of the shelves hadn’t been touched in awhile. The tv remote doesn’t work unless you are pointing it near the top of the tv ( the cable box is hiding behind tv) so you can’t change channels from the bed. Fridge in room is a big plus and the shower is great. There seemed to be plenty of lighting once I found the switches for over the coffee area that has nesspresso but I don’t drink coffee so they brought a tea kettle up and that was perfect. Also, if you need ice just ask they will bring that up to you, promptly! Overall I really enjoyed the location and the staff. Both ladies running the front desk (AM and PM) were helpful and kind and they were very professional. The rest of the staff were all kind and helpful as well. Thanks!

Travels from Australia and first time in New York and the States. We were looking for a hotel close to everything and we found it! The price was average compared to other hotel we were looking at BUT this one has a balcony and is reasonably large. We stayed in the junior skyline terrace. From the reviews we have heard such good things about glass walls and good views. Unfortunately, we got put in the bottom one so we had a very large concrete wall blocking everything (it was the biggest balcony they had but the worst view). We didn’t get to see anything which was a big downside. In front of us was a construction site which was worse. LUCKILY they have a shared balcony on the top floor you can use. Aditya and Michelle are the ones who made our stay so special. Aditya (doorman) was the more friendliest person and was so welcoming. An asset to the hotel definitely. Michelle (receptionist) was also so lovely. It was my birthday so I was provided complimentary champagne (twice). One of arrival and one on my actual birthday. This was very special. We will definitely stay again (considering we actually get a good view next time lol) Thanks guys!!

First of all let me be clear: I would definitely recommend this hotel, but it does have some shortcomings- as all hotels do. Starting with the good things- the location is PERFECT, it is just off 5th Avenue and walking distance from Grand Central, the Chrysler Building, Shopping, Times Square, Rockefeller Centre, Empire State, Central Park etc etc etc... The staff are great- very helpful and friendly. There is a restaurant on the ground floor which looks nice, but is HUGELY expensive, as is room service. There are public balconies on the 19th-23rd floors, which give good views of the immediate surroundings, but they are VERY scary of you have the slightest fear of heights! We were only 3 floors up and immediately above the, very noisy, restaurant with no view other than a wall, but the glazing was enough to keep all the noise out, so we slept well in the (typically) HUGE bed and the lack of view wasn't an issue, given that we were out and about most of the time. Now the not-so-good stuff: The room was really dusty. I was able to write me name in the dust on the bedside cabinet. The attention to detail in the room was poor- especially the cleaning: the skirting boards and other surfaces were very dusty and there were a lot of places where the paintwork was chipped, or had scuff marks which weren't covered or cleaned. All the furniture in the room was worn and the varnish and stain had been rubbed off with use- this wasn't a huge issue but it looked poor and the whole room had a poorly maintained feel to it. The lighting was also poort, with no lights above the minbar area where the coffee machine was, or in the middle of the room, it was sometimes hard to see what we were doing. All in all, not worth paying a lot for, but we will definitely look at staying here again the next time we are in New York.
