With the wide variety of hotels in NYC, you would think that hotels would do their part to try and stand out from the competition so their guests can return. The Gotham clearly has no interest in doing so. I called a few days prior requesting an early check-in and didn’t receive one. You’re never guaranteed an early check-in, so that’s no big deal. But I was told there were no other rooms available in the hotel (I was willing to pay for an upgrade) - but I ended up finding out that the hotel was, in fact, not sold out like I was told by the front desk agent. Why they felt the need to lie to me when I was willing to pay more is beyond me. The rooms are okay. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable. Room is clean, but very dusty. Had problems with the TV throughout my entire stay. Reception would come in and out, receiver would be out of range for the remote control, TV randomly would turn on and off. Very bizarre. Room had a great heating system, so it kept me warm in the 20 degrees temperature (this Miami boy really needed it!). Rooms are also pretty big, according to NYC standards. I was not told that there was construction on the street where the hotel was. 46th Ave was completely blocked off and had to walk in from 5th Ave. No big deal ... until I tried to nap. My room was facing the construction and it was incredibly noisy. A heads up would’ve been nice. I asked the front desk agent and the doorman, both of which were inattentive and disinterested in being there (almost as if they were bothered by my questions), about restaurant suggestions. I was suggested a nearby diner, “a Portuguese restaurant, two Italian restaurants and a Brazilian restaurant” ... how about some names for these places?? NYC is a world-class city for food - I was shocked to see that the hotel couldn’t provide a solid list of good nearby restaurants. Also, there’s no secondary lock on the room door, nor is there a do not disturb sign. So privacy and security is limited here. On several occasions, I’d get off the elevator and would see trash bags in the hallway. Not cute. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. There wasn’t really anything to make me want to come back. If you’re looking for a no-frills place to sleep, you should be fine. I travel often, so I enjoy properties that offer friendly service and amenities. The only thing keeping me from rating this stay “terrible” was the fact that I got a good night sleep, hence my “poor” rating. For the amount of money I paid, I feel as if I didn’t get my money’s worth. Sad!

The Gotham Hotel provided us with everything we were looking for during our recent weekend in New York City: an ideal location for access to the Broadway theaters; a wonderfully accommodating staff; and a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced room. We were especially impressed with the friendliness and service of Aditya. Try this hotel; you won't be sorry.

I took my fiance to NYC for his 30th birthday. I selected The Gotham due to its proximity to the theater district (we had tickets for a Broadway show). Making a reservation was easy and I was able to take advantage of a sale. I was able to "pre check in" via email that confirmed I was coming, authorized charge to my card, and asked for my estimated arrival time. I put in 2:45 since I thought we would arrive by 3 (normal check in) and thought it might ensure our room was ready. (SPOILER ALERT: IT DIDN'T). It also stated that I would receive an email verification that my room was ready- it was never completed. When we arrived, I was informed that the room wasn't ready as it was a full house the night before. Things get busy, I get it. The receptionist stated that it would be 15 minutes and they would call when it was ready, but we were welcome to wait in the lobby. We stayed and waited, since it was very cold outside. 40 minutes later, I approached the desk as I had received neither phone call nor email. Lo and behold, our room was ready! Nice of them to tell us that as we sat there.... The room itself was very nice. Our one gripe was that the toilet appeared to be a "low flow" and you had to hold the flusher down in order for it to actually complete a flush. We had a king sized bed and balcony. There were plenty of lights, and a nespresso coffee machine. Even though there were two of us, there were only 1 of certain things, like the robe and slippers, but it didn't matter since we didn't plan to use them. There were also plenty of cream and sugar for the coffee, but no stirrers! When the room was serviced on the first morning, they left a weather report and chocolates, but neglected to refill the coffee pods. This was not a big deal, as we aren't big fans of the single pod coffees and there is both a coffee shop and dunkin donuts in the same block. The room was very clean and check out was a breeze.

This Has Been The Worst Experience We Ever Had In NYC Sorry But Ms. Sanela Sau Should Be Taking Her Job More Serious Instead Of Hanging With Friends While At Work.. In Some Rooms Heat's Not Working Properly In Specially The Penthouse, and 14th flr Also Hot Water Runs Out in Just A Few Minutes And It Comes Out White... They Gave Us Keys To Our "Room" To Find Other People Already Checked In It You Go To The Front Desk And They Seem Bothered By Their Own Mistake.. Got Moved 3 Times Was Charged For A Specific Suite And Never Even Got To See What It Looked Like... OVER ALL NEVER AGAIN I DEF DON'T RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE! Spent 8 nights at here. On the day of check out I had arranged to have a late checkout at 1pm instead of 12pm. At 1.06pm I received a call from the front desk from a very rude woman asking why I hadn't checked out. After 8 nights I thought they could have forgiven my 6 minute delay. When I went to the desk to check out the blonde curly haired woman who had called me was very rude and unfriendly. The minibar in my room wasn't restocked any day. The lifts, corridors and my room stank of weed throughout my stay. There was constantly laundry and full trash bags left in the corridor by housekeeping. The bed was comfortable and the hotel is a good location for tourists and business travellers.
