This is a very chic and cozy hotel, on a quiet and pretty street. It's like having a home in New York. One is treated like a VIP from the very first stay, by all the staff. They have just come through an extensive renovation and it is a total sucecss. The new restaurant, Majorelle, is a masterpiece. The Club Room is very elegant and beautiful but also welcoming and comfortable. This is a small hotel by New York standards and the lobby is small, so one does not get people hanging around as in the large hotels. My dog was treated like a dear friend and his welfare was of top importance. There are several dogs visiting and one who is a resident. The Lowell is truly a very pet friendly hotel. They also welcome children of all ages and while I am very fussy about not wanting to hear them, I never have been disturbed by any bsbies or toddlers. I would not or could not stay in any other hotel.

My husband and I stay here each year for our anniversary because we feel as though we've escaped to a five star, small European hotel. Everything was immaculate and comfortable, and the staff top notch.

It's always a pleasure and treat to stay at the Lowell in NYC. The hotel always meets or exceeds expectations! The new lobby, bars and restaurant are all lovely and a welcome addition to the property.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and booked two separate bedrooms. The hotel is very expensive, more expensive than many hotels in New York. We were expecting therefore an impeccable level of service. Here are the issues we were faced with: - One of our family member is highly allergic to nuts. At breakfast we raised this medical condition, and asked the staff to be extraordinary careful. Our family member with this medical condition ordered only a cappuccino. The cappuccino came with a cookie with nuts on the side and when we raised the issue with the staff, the staff just removed it with his bare hands leaving a lot of debris on the cup, with possibly some falling in the cup. This is unacceptable. - we asked for a late check out (around 1:30 PM-2PM). We were denied the late check out and asked to leave by 12:30. We then asked if we could stay until 2 PM in the bar or in the ground floor (our flight out of NY was at 18:00). As we have a small dog with us, we were told that they were no area where we could wait. Our departure day was a very rainy day in New York. As a result, we reorganized all of our plans, including our car pick up and then about half an hour before we left our room the staff called us to tell us that we could stay until 2PM. Why this was not shared with us when we made that request early in the morning? All our plans were changed and by then our limo was waiting downstairs already. Too late to inform your guests. - we asked for a non smoking floor. Each time we walked out of the room there was a very strong cigarette smell. - at arrival, it took more than 30mm to have the luggage delivered to our rooms. - at departure, after 40mm, the luggage in one of the room were not brought downstairs and we had to carry them ourself. - last, upon departure at checkout, no one bothered to ask us how was our stay. A surprise for a hotel of this price.
