First off the location was great and staff were reasonably friendly. This is the fourth time I’ve been to New York and the first for business. There are a lot of people that like the style of the hotel but I thought it was ok. The room I got was facing a wall but since I was there for only there for two nights I didn’t care much. The biggest issue I had with my stay was the fact that they charged an extra $40 per day service fee for stuff that I did not need or should have need included: 1. Business center access 2. Gym access 3. Internet 4. $10 / day drink voucher 5. $10 of car service if you book through them 6. 15% discount for next booking 7. Maybe another couple if things I didn’t need but could not remember. The first three things should be a given for a hotel that is already charging $200 plus a night. The internet was not that great and they even try and get you to pay another $20 per day for faster internet. You can decide on your own if you think the extra $40 per day is worth it but it wasn’t for me by any stretch. After the taxes and fees my daily rate was close to 40% higher so buyer beware.

Very good location, right on the corner of 7th Ave and 51st St., in the very heart of the Theater District. The hotel is being advertized as "Italian flair and cosmopolitan appeal in Times Square", which is 100% true, as applied to the hotel's general interior and its opulent and chic lobby. The rooms, however, even though well appointed, lack any specific Italian flair, nor in their furnishings neither in bathroom toiletries, etc. We mean the entry-level 'Executive Rooms'. To be fair, the standard rooms are MUCH bigger than what most of NYC hotels offer. Moreover, there is a lot of storage place, numerous drawers, cabinets, and night stands. Michelangelo is not merely an Italian-sounding name, for the hotel is being a part of StarHotels, a parent company that numbers almost 30 hotels throughout Italy, and also in Paris and London. The amount and location of electrical outlets to charge your smartphones and gadgets is adequate. The elevators are more than sufficient for a hotel of that size; 3 elevators completely eliminate any possible waiting time. The bathroom features an oversized bathtub and red light, mounted in the ceiling. The fitness center is located in the hotel's basement (press 'C' button in the elevator); it's your room key/card accessible and is really miniscule. It features 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 1 bicycle and some light free weights. To use it for one's cardio needs is OK, however, if one is into a serious workout, then get a day pass to one of the area gyms, specifically Equinox West 50th St, which is about 2 minutes' walk from the hotel. The dining options include both room service (please note, it's not a 24 hrs service and is available until 11:30 PM only) and the dining area/bar to the right of the lobby. Once in the dining area, try to get a table by one of the windows overlooking 51 St., ideal for people and city life watching. We had lunch there on the day of our arrival, and everything was perfect, the Italian Insalata Caprese with super fresh, almost leaking, burrata and a cheese and salami platter. The prices are unbelievingly low for Manhattan hotels. Big credit and kudos to Michelangelo's management. Overall great hotel for the buck. Try, however, to get either a Studio Room or a Junior suite (vs Executive Room) for a better comfort and exclusivity.

From the moment the doorman opens the door and greets you to the final good-bye when you leave, the hotel presents great and enjoyable experience. The check in process was easy and quick. The three elevators quickly moved us to our floor. It was a slow weekend, so were upgraded to a mini suite which was very roomy. A king size bed, sofa, arm chairs, a desk and desk chair and two TVs. But who needs TVs when there is so much to do in NYC? The bathroom was large and well stocked with the usual items. The toilet and tub/shower was in a separate room from the large counter and sink.. Two robes, two umbrellas, and thick bath sheets. The bar/restaurant is convenient for breakfast. The menu is large and the food tasty. The orange juice was the best I have had in a while. The experience was a very good one.

We can’t say enough about how perfect we find the Michelangelo Hotel. From the moment you walk into the lobby the European ambiance is present. Love the wonderful music that greats you as you open the door of your room. Love this hotel.
