Reviews for The Michelangelo Hotel

Really enjoyed our stay.

We were there 12/13-17. The hotel is in a perfect spot for walking to some of the main attractions, e.g. Radio City, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and the theater district. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, especially Walter at the front desk and Edwin the bellman. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. Our first room had a brick wall for a view. This was my husband’s first time in NYC and we were celebrating our anniversary. Thankfully, we were able to move to another room the next day with a street view…much better. The bed was super comfortable and we appreciated king size pillows. We would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous small hotel with great location and staff!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

We had a wonderful experience at the Michelangelo. It was beautiful, festive, and very clean. The staff were amazing- the front desk folks, the bellmen, the doormen, and the concierge were all very friendly and helpful. Great advice, service, and welcoming. Within the day, they all knew us. Our room was lovely and huge by New York City standards. The beds were queen size, not the usual double, and the bathroom layout was great for a party of three. Everything was immaculate. And we were greeted with a lovely welcome gift. We were right across the street from the Winter Garden, and could look out our window and see the Elphaba and Glinda electronic billboards. The location is great - we walked almost everywhere and were easily able to get cabs or Ubers if going somewhere too far to walk. Note that if you are going to the Cloisters (highly recommend if you enjoy medieval art and architecture), you can get there by cab or Uber, but will need to take an Uber to get back to Midtown. This was a wonderful change from the chain hotels that we have stayed in previously. We will definitely be staying at the Michelangelo for all our future visits. Overall, it could not have been better.

Family Visit for Christmas Event

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

My family & I came to NY for some Christmas events & stayed at the Michelangelo. We had a wonderful time, literally from the time we were greeted at the door; through an easy check in; to the valet service that brought our bags to the room; through check out. The room was spacious, comfortable & clean. The robes & slippers were a nice touch! Definitely recommend!

Ripped Off on Fifty-First Street

A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT This place needs an urgent makeover. The curtain valence in our room was burnt where both ceiling lights shown down on it. Sections of two pieces of bedroom furniture had areas where the vaneer was ripped off. The paint on the interior base of the windows had very-deep cracks and was peeling off. The heater made a loud "tapping" noise when the heat came on. The drain in the bathtub took forever to drain after showering. It gets worse: there's a $45 per day "Resort Fee" that is charged after they tell you that you have $10 a day credit in the lounge. The "Resort Fee" covers Wi-Fi, a fitness center off-property, and USE OF THE LOUNGE. Breakfast, unknown to us, was to end at 11 a.m. today. We arrived at 10:50 a.m. and were told, "We're closed". A female employee standing at the bar was about to pour the contents of a very-large-commercial coffee brewer down the drain. I asked for a cup of it when she started pouring it. She once again reminded me, "We're closed". For this I paid $45 today so I can have "use" of the lounge. The tubs don't drain, the paint is cracked and peeling, the furniture came from a landfill, and food is not always available. Wait until you hear this place had a very-needed makeover before you stay here.

Wonderful Staff

I took my 10 year old daughter to NYC for her first time ever, the Michelangelo Hotel staff were among the most friendly and helpful I’ve ever experienced. Specifically Edwin the bellman. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay right in the middle of all the best action in the city.

Thank you for a truly beautiful 16-hour stay. The Michelangelo staff was exceptional—professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

The food was excellent as well. I had friends join me for dinner, which was delightful, and I managed to enjoy a quick breakfast before my early departure.

I was especially delighted by the unexpected upgrade—what a wonderful surprise! My only regret was that my visit was too short. To fix that, I’ll be returning very soon, and I’m already looking forward to another memorable experience.
