Our weekend trip to NYC was made perfect by our stay at The Surrey. Amazing customer service from start to finish with special care to details. Our room was beautiful and the view from the roof top patio was stunning. This will definitely be our go-to hotel when visiting NY.

We were here for a family reunion and perhaps it was unfortunate that I arrived here after staying at the Four Seasons in Boston and the Ritz Carlton in Montreal. Can't imagine how this hotel is rated in the top 3 in NYC - it is mediocre at best. I've not stayed in many hotels in NYC but I'm sure it can do better than this. The hotel is dark and gloomy. The room keys consistently gave problems in the elevator - so you ended up going up and down until the card worked. The suite was spacious but in all other ways - it was just okay. Bathroom and amenities mediocre. Bathrobes worn out. Not once was I mentioned by name, and we had 5 rooms and were there for 4 nights. Most of the time I opened the main front door myself. It rained most days and I was never offered an umbrella and when I would return with my own umbrella and shopping bags, and then had to open the door myself, not good. Breakfast from in-room dining took over an hour to come. Honestly wouldn't stay here again.

I've stayed in this hotel multiple times, and it's a quiet oasis away from the common noise, and the terrace, in the summer time is a wonderful respite overlooking the city. The rooms are well appointed, the toiletries are Diptyque, and the hotel is very much in tune with Relais & Chateaux. Added bonus - windows in the room actually open, so if you're having a battle with your AC, you can always opt for some NYC air. Having Boulud downstairs for the dining and the bar options is great, and the quality of the room service is perfect. Really like this property, particularly as if you're looking for something more lively, you can always venture over to the bars/restaurants at the Mark or the Carlyle without having to bother with the rest of the scene there. Nermine at the front desk is particularly helpful. One knock - doormen could be a little bit more on point: loved having to haul two suitcases in through a closed door while they idly stood by chatting about whatever...

What a pleasant stay we had. This was our annual NYC overnight, and our normal hotel was the Waldorf=Astoria. Since they were closed for renovations, we needed to go to another hotel, and we chose The Surrey. Great choice. Staff was more than accommodating, from the excellent staff at the curb who helped with our bags and car parking, to the room service and front desk, everyone was pleasant, professional, and made our stay delightful. The room was great - not huge, but hey, it's a NYC hotel room. Great view, comfy bed, and a great bathroom. Received a nice 'welcome gift' of a bottle of prosecco and some macarons which were delicious. The B&O bluetooth speaker was a nice amenity not found in most rooms. The rooftop is not so much a bar, but a wonderful outdoor seating area that happens to have a bar up there. Fantastic views, and a surprising degree of quietness that made it an absolute pleasure to experience. Cafe Boulud for breakfast was excellent, as expected. I've been here before for dinner, and it's as good as any Daniel Boulud restaurant out there. We will be staying here again.

In the land of boutique hotels (NYC) this one does not stack up to the competition nor to the more established NYC well known establishments. The most appealing aspect of this hotel is having Cafe Baloud on site. The food is top notch, whatever time your joining them for a meal your sure to be impressed. Hotel customer service is below par. Rooms are ok not great. Do some more research before booking here.
