My wife and I found our recent stay at The Surrey to be elegant and relaxing. We have stayed there previously and will book again at the end of May on our next trip to NY. The hotel is wonderful, and it is well located for visits to the Frick and the Met, as well as the many fine restaurants and art galleries in the neighborhood.

The hotel is located in a relative quiet area on the upper east side. Not the best place when you have a lot of meetings happening in midtown/downtown (where most business is). Other than that hotel is nicely appointed with a few exceptions. There are no outlets next to the bed, which I find awful in this modern day and age. It’s such an easy fix there really is no excuse. I later found out there is a power outlet behind a mirror/drawer that’s on the desk, but that doesn’t cut it for me, you need outlets next to the bed. The bathroom is nice and so are the amenities. However, both of the towels I had to use had tears and little holes in them. Seems like they are trying to save on linen costs. As for the food we, tried Cafe Bouloud. Food was very tasty. Unfortunately, when we had dinner (group of 8) I was the unlucky fellow to get a lamb entree that was salty and over-cooked. All other dishes were spectacular. And the maitre did his best to make up for the issue. I don’t think I’d come back to the Surrey with so many owesome options in the city. But if I had to stay there for convenience I wouldn’t mind it either.

Truly friendly welcoming personal service - so refreshing in NYC! This is a smaller boutique hotel that gets to know it’s cliente. The rooms are stately and well-appointed. The bathrooms are large. Each room has a nice bar. Complimentary entertainment and coffee is offered at certain times. The room service food was delicious and beyond what one finds in a Ritz, however the downside is the price. I would definitely return.

We arrived exhausted after an airline issue and The Surrey welcomed us like family. It was my husband's first visit to New York (although unplanned) and he was pleasantly surprised. It was late so we had room service delivered and everything was delicious! The Surrey is my favorite hotel in New York and I can't wait to go back!

Everything about my stay at the Surrey was top notch (except for the traffic noise that it IS New York!). Friendly service, excellent food, lovely accommodations. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable stay with the fine amenities of home.
