Upper East Side Jewel...

Where do I start. This hotel is perfection. The location, the doormen, front desk, rooms, absolutely everything impeccable. Visited NYC for my birthday, and to see our daughter who lives there. Wonderful welcome small cake in the room, the linens, turn-down service, free car service in a small radius. Walking distance to Central Park, The Met, the Carlyle etc. I've been coming to NYC for 35 years and this by far is the quietest hotel I have stayed in. No street noise in our room. Casa Tua restaurant in the lobby was wonderful for breakfast, lunch, and the Lounge bar across the way great for afternoon snacks and a break from walking. The one thing I want to mention is, they treated us just a warmly on our departure day as our arrival day. We all know that feeling of when you get to a hotel everyone is all smiles, and the day you leave, you are invisible. Not at The Surrey. Outstanding in every single way. The bar has been set Surrey!

Julio, Howard and Stevenson were incredibly friendly and gave our dog biscuits every time we came in and out. We love them and The Surrey!

Surrey doorman was a pro

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Experience was great. The doorman Julio MORALES escorted us from the sidewalk to the penthouse for a photo shoot with such elegance and surety. Whatcould’ve been a difficult transition with many twist and turns became a seamless effort because of his professionalism.

My stay was perfect. Service is excellent especially from Renee Carbone director of Guest Relations. Renee made sure of that the smallest details were taken care of. It felt like home

NOT the place to stay on the UES

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Overall this hotel was a disappointment. Just because you always call me by my name and offer me a bottle of water does not make a property deluxe. The checkin desk is very tight such that if there are two guests, you will be on top of each other. There were always gentleman at the door but they did not always open it. It does not seem appropriate for the front desk staff to be taking selfies. After we checked in and headed to the elevator with the bellman, a front desk person came quickly at us and loudly asked for my fiancé's name although it was already on the record. We had a grand deluxe room. It was decorated very nicely. The bathroom and closets are well thought out. However the bedroom was quite small. We did try the restaurant - although the food was good, the waitress was substandard and the noise level was very high. Finally we booked thru AE platinum. When we checked in , there was no mention of any of the benefits. I told them that we would be taking advantage of the late check out. I doubt that there was any true attempt at upgrading the room.
