Trump SoHo New York in New York City, New York

There is no mistaking Trump SoHo New York on downtown’s skyline. The 46-story glass tower rises high above cobblestoned Spring Street, a surprisingly smooth marriage of the neighborhood’s industrial-chic personality and The Donald’s trademark luxury. Located on the western edge of SoHo, the hotel is a perfect home base for exploring the art galleries, boutiques and historic cast-iron architecture surrounding it. At night, return for dinner reservations at Koi, the celeb-magnet Japanese fusion restaurant just off the hotel’s sweeping, dimly lit lobby.

Watch the sun rise over Midtown’s skyscrapers from the vantage point of your penthouse suite. Go for a morning jog along the Hudson River. Break for a coffee in the West Village and browse a local bookstore hidden on a quiet, tree-lined street. Don a pair of boots from a SoHo boutique and blend in with the fashion models dashing off to castings. Unwind in a Zen-inspired environment while dining on miso-bronzed black cod.

Basics. The lobby and bar are well appointed with dark wood and dark leather, are not as ostentatious as some of the other Trump assets. The rooms, while lacking in flash, are sizable, well-designed and comfortable. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which would be comfortable enough to spend a long period of time. Generally, speaking this hotel belongs in the same league as other fine hotels in NYC, like the Surrey (review forthcoming), the Loews, the Mark and the Pierre, though probably not in the same leagues as the upper echelon (Four Seasons, St Regis). Location. Not really SoHo, but still fine. Be advised, however, that there is a constant parade of tunnel traffic along Varick Street, so don't take a room on that side unless you are above floor 9. The front door itself is on an unremarkable and noisy section of Spring Street. Still, the nice parts of SoHo, and much of TriBeCa and Greenwich Village, are in easy walking distance. Food/Bev. The bar is nice looking, but a bit boring and seemingly not frequented by locals. Food, again, is fine, but nothing to write home about! I ordered breakfast at 7 am, an omelet, and it was quite expensive but comp'd through Amex. It was just OK. With so many great restaurants in Soho and Tribeca, best to eat elsewhere. The love the Nespresso Cube single-cup coffee maker in the room meant we didn’t have to pay for coffee.

I loved the location of the hotel in soho, much better than being in times square. The lobby smelled amazing and was very nice. The front desk were over-the-top friendly which was great and the door men/bellmen were also very accommodating and friendly. I booked the sohi room and the view was amazing, especially at night. We had a view of the hudson river and the empire state building. I did request a corner room multiple times prior to our stay but we never got one. They said we'd have to pay an extra $150 to upgrade to a suite just to increase our chances of getting a corner room which I didn't want to do. Overall, our room was fantastic. The nightstands and other parts of the room were dusty as if the room hasen't been dusted in a long time. We only had 1 bath robe and no slippers. I'm sure we could've requested more if we called the from desk but we didn't. Also, one of the night stand drawers were broken which isn't a big deal but at this price point I expect everything to be exceptional. Also, at 4am, there was screaming and yelling on the floor right above us which was annoying but didn't report it. I would stay here again.

We just stayed here 3 nights. We wanted to be in soho since we love the area. Overall, the hotel is okay, but not great. The rooms are tired and not five star at all. You can't compare this hotel to any real five stars in NYC live the Park Hyatt, Four Seasons, Fairmount Plaza, etc. not even close! Lobby - tired and not great looking Restaurant - overpriced and okay. Coffee is $7 and isn't great. We had breakfast included everyday otherwise wouldn't have paid the $70-80 for 2. Lot's of better options in SoHo. Spa -it's in a dark and odd area on the 7th floor. Actually getting there is creepy. Reception for spa is good for an inexpensive local cheap spa. We had a $100 credit due to our booking and thought we'd buy a few products, but honestly the selection was bad. Internet - good service but cost $15-$25 a day. Seems a little rich..... Doorman- excellent. Best part. Rooms - look like a TV show off the 90's. They have TV's in bathroom that must be 10 years old, you know those really chunky crap ones. Again, not a five star. Just everything in the room seemed of. The wallpaper is old and not great, furniture is cheap. Bed was comfortable. Our room was upgraded and the bathroom only had one sink! (odd for so called 5 star) Bottomline, if you're on a budget for a "5 star" I guess this will do. You can do much better.

I had very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel and particularly the free use of spa. They have sauna, steam room and a relaxation area with teas which all top notch. Room was great too - big room, comfortable bed, espresso maker etc. Its position on Spring Street means you are near best places to eat in NY. Great hotel!
