The Dominick Hotel

My mother and I had an absolutely fabulous stay! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. Our room was beautiful, the service was wonderful, and we truly appreciated the wine and all of the thoughtful special touches that made our visit feel extra special. A special thank you to Leidy and the entire team for making our stay so memorable. I would also like to recognize Stanley, the doorman, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. He went out of his way to assist us with directions and recommendations and was such a pleasure to speak with. Our room attendant, Maria, was also exceptional. She took wonderful care of our room throughout our stay, and we greatly appreciated her attention to detail and excellent service. The genuine hospitality we experienced throughout our entire stay truly stood out. We left with wonderful memories and would absolutely return. Thank you to Leidy, Stanley, Maria, and the entire team for making our visit such a fantastic experience!

An exceptional hotel with an excellent location; the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, and every request of ours was handled perfectly. Truly one of the best hotels we have ever visited—highly recommended. At the front desk, we were assisted by a staff member named Mohendra, who provided excellent service; we asked to check into our room early due to our very early arrival and to check out late because of a night flight, and every request was met perfectly and with a smile.

We stayed for 5 nights at The Dominick, and everything was really great (except for the elevator system, which we hear is being replaced--thankfully!). The room was a good size and we appreciated the additional sink at the bar section, the surrounding SoHo neighborhood was fabulous, and the food at Mezzanine was very tasty. We had great attentive service by the maids on our floor, as well as the staff at the Mezzanine. A special shout-out to Tanvir, who provided friendly and excellent service during our daily breakfast. He suggested tasty breakfast options and was very efficient whenever we asked for honey, extra butter, etc. We will be back at The Dominick and will suggest it to friends. We stayed at The Dominick for four nights and overall were very happy with the hotel, so five stars from us. The location is excellent, right between SoHo and the West Village, with plenty of very good restaurants nearby. For Manhattan, the rooms are also unusually spacious. The bed was very comfortable and on the softer side, which I personally like, the pillows were excellent, and the towels, coffee machine and amenities were all exactly what you would expect from a hotel in this category. A special mention goes to the housekeeping team. They did an outstanding job throughout our stay. The room was spotless every day and there was not a single issue during the four nights. The doormen and bell staff were also friendly and helpful. There was, however, one annoying experience at check-in. I arrived around 9:00 a.m. and was obviously fully aware that the official check-in time is 3:00 p.m. I asked whether an early check-in might be possible. The only option offered was essentially the same room category I had already booked, but on a higher floor. Instead of around the 26th floor, I was moved to the 35th floor. The view was certainly very good, but the upgrade cost an additional $150 per night for the entire four-night stay. So in the end, $600 extra mainly for being a few floors higher is, shall we say, quite ambitious. What annoyed me more was the communication afterwards. I was told that the previous guests had already left, housekeeping would start shortly and that they would basically send the whole housekeeping crew in to get the room ready quickly. At 10:00 a.m., it was still not ready. More reassurance followed. Shortly before 11:00 a.m., after being told to wait yet again, I finally said that I stay in hotels very frequently and have a fairly good idea how long it takes to clean a normal hotel room. Interestingly enough, within about three seconds, a room suddenly became available. That kind of unnecessary “hotel talk” is really not needed in a property at this level. Just tell guests honestly what the situation is. That said, this was genuinely the only negative point during the stay. We ended up paying more than $1,000 per night, which sounds rather insane, but by current New York standards for a good five-star hotel, it is unfortunately not even particularly unusual. One small New York side note for visitors: be prepared for Uber and Lyft pricing as well. Dynamic pricing here can be absolutely spectacular. At one point, Uber showed me around $90 for a ride of only 3.7 miles. I genuinely had to look at the screen twice. The subway is often not only dramatically cheaper, but also much faster, and the network works very well. Overall, I would definitely stay at The Dominick again. Excellent location, large and comfortable rooms, very good service overall and outstanding housekeeping. The only thing I would improve is the communication at reception – a little less storytelling and a little more straightforward information would make the experience even better.

Great location, quiet but central with fabulous views from higher floors. Spacious room with comfortable bed/pillows. Our curtains were however broken and there were some small items around the room that could use updating at this price point (kick boards scuffed, phone mounted next to toilet, curtain stapled to wall on one side).
