Reviews for The Dominick Hotel

Consistent Elevator Issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Beautiful hotel, but major elevator issues that seem to be consistent in the reviews over a period of time. Staff was excellent, in room dining food was excellent, rooms are beautiful and clean. However, even after inquiring about the elevators before booking, And then again, when we checked in, we still had issues the very next morning. It took anywhere from 20 minutes in the morning to 30-40 minutes at night waiting for elevators For upper floors. We were on floor 34 so we could not take the stairs. At check-in they said the elevators broke down and it was a big issue a little while ago , but all fixed. Clearly, they consistently break down as the very next morning they did not work. I do have to say they compensated us a little bit for the inconvenience, but compared to the overall price and stress getting to where we needed to be on time, I am not sure I would risk it again. The staff was excellent though, and the room and location also excellent.

The best luxury hotel in New York

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The location is ideal as you are near the West Village for good restaurants, Soho for shopping and Meatpacking for nightlife. The atmosphere of the hotel screams luxury with celebrities staying at the hotel and paparazzi and fans waiting outside for a glimpse at the famous people staying at the hotel. The rooms are impeccable with luxury decor lovely views of the city and comfortable beds and sofas. The price of the stay was very reasonable considering the level of luxury the hotel offers. The hotel is maintained very nicely with zero issues of cleanliness. The staff is excellent very helpful knowledgeable courteous and friendly. I must say the concierge Raquel was the highlight for me, so friendly and quick to address any issue head on. Finally the spa, I cannot rave enough about the level of service I received at the spa and the facial I got was transformative.

Terrible stay at the Dominick

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The elevators were not working and we were literally stranded on the 32nd floor for 20 - 25 minutes at a time just trying to get up or down. As a result, we missed multiple Uber rides, arrived late to meetings and dinner events, and nearly missed our flights! Beyond the elevator issues, the property was in poor condition. The hallways were dirty, the carpets in the rooms were worm and smelled old. The overall cleanliness was far below what anyone should expect from a hotel at this price point. I am shocked that this hotel continues to operate at this standard. What should have been a comfortable stay turned to be a frustrating and stressful experience. I will not recommend this hotel and will never stay here again.

The elevators are almost inoperable.. think twice before booking..

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The folks who wrote reviews previously must not have had our experience. You are very lucky if you only wait 15 minutes for an elevator. It is 2:30 and one of the employees just warned me I should plan on 30 minutes after 3:30. There were 6 of us on our last adventure getting to our room. We all agreed, none of us would stay at this property again. They only have 4 elevators, only 2 operable. We were told they are waiting on parts that could take 6 months. The pot front desk staff.. they have to listen to unhappy guests all day. If you have the time and patience this property is for you. Rooms are nice..

Elevator wait times

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Went for a wedding. Elevator wait times were up to 15 minutes throughout entire stay. We were late for dinner the first night and literally would leave 20 minutes early to take into account elevator wait times for any other events we had. Not 5 star experience
