I was very worried staying here with my toddler and family to celebrate my 40th bday. I knew I wanted to stay in the meatpacking district and the Gasenvoort was a let's try and stay here to see what it's like, even though they don't recommend it for families, given it's young croud appeal. However, I got their on a Thursday night and left on a Saturday, so I figured it wouldn't be too bad. I was welcomed to a very nice view of the hudson and they put me on the 12th floor and I was well received with a happy birthday card printed just for me with a champagne on the house, which was super cool! The room very inviting and pretty big and not bad that you had a balcony to admire the view in. The service was amazing, first class no joke! Everytime I needed something it was done with pleasure and the upmost attention. The pool was empty on Friday during the day, of course a bit of a club scene on Saturday, but I was able to have fun with my family and toddler anyway, wasn't too bad. The towel lady at the pool was so nice, when she saw it was packed and saw two chairs, shes asked if I would like them and I said yes, and she put towels on the chairs for us. I really enjoyed everything about it here, location, service, and the bed and pillows, omg, super soft and delicious!!! Thanks for the personalized bday card and champagne, it was very much appreciated.

Our favorite part of town to stay when visiting NYC is the Meatpacking/Chelsea area. And the Gansevoort will be one of our favorite hotels. There's a really cool vibe from the moment you walk in from the lobby with its great artwork to the rooftop pool and bar, all are pretty amazing. The rooms are very nice also. A must stay hotel when visiting NYC.

This was my first visit to this hotel. I usually stay at The Standard High Line but have felt it slipping recently. So glad I made the switch!! The rooms are so spacious, and the bathroom is big and luxurious. My first room was not what I was promised and the manager, Eric, stepped in and moved me to a Deluxe King with a view of the Hudson. My room, 1009 was perfect. There's even a sofa in the window to watch the sun set on the river. Room service food is very good and arrived hot. There's an Illy coffeemaker in the room so I've had my morning coffee in bed every day. There's a large closet and a mirror in the room that's perfect for getting ready for a night out. It's well lit and big enough to do make-up and hair. There's a lot of street noise right now with all the construction on every street in the Meatpacking District but it really didn't bother me. Couldn't hear it from the high floor. Guessing it's noisier in rooms on lower floors so you might want to consider rooms on other side of the hotel which are quieter but you sacrifice the great river view. Also, there's a really nice pool on the roof and a large bar which has gorgeous views. It's a hot spot and the weekends are VERY active here but I like all the action. I had breakfast in the restaurant in the lobby a few times. Food was good and you can sit outside, which is a bonus! Plus, there are so many restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance - so there's lots of options. Overall, a great stay, the staff was very friendly and helpful and Eric and Gustavo, the 2 managers, went overboard to make my stay fabulous!! I will definitely be back!

I was most disappointed when going to the pool, my coworker and I were ignored and then rudely asked if we were guests of the hotel repeatedly. This baffled us considering the partiers that were up there. My clothing and baggage was soaked with water from being on the floor by our bed on top of that and I cannot get the smell out of them. I overall thought the Hotel was nice but for the money I paid I wonder what I could have received other places.
