About the Hotel

A sleek retreat from the urban metropolis of the world's most recognized city, Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC offers swanky downtown chic with a hint of uptown luxury. The soaring ultramodern façade, lavish amenities, and tony vibe of Manhattan's premier hotel transforms the boisterous Meatpacking District into the most sought after hot spot in the Big Apple. Inspired by the hip, cool feel of the 1960's and 70's, a bold, bright color palate of fuchsia, magenta, plum, and champagne creates a classically mod ambiance throughout the property. Lavish details like a heated rooftop pool with underwater sound-system and resplendent 5,000 square foot spa with exclusive hair studio provides contemporary comforts and a chance to be pampered like never before.

Terrible

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I booked a room at $600 a night and when I checked in, there was another patron who was struggling atthe front desk to find a way to lower the temperature in his room. It was suggested to him that he opened the window. I got to my room and the temperature was 74° and I tried to adjust the thermostat to cool the room as I might expect I would be able to do in a high-end hotel. The thermostat was non-responsive and when I called the front desk, they offered me a fan and suggested I open a window. They also noted that when there were warm days, such as this that their systems weren’t capable of being responsive to these kinds of changes and suggested that given today was warm, but the remainder of the week was going to be cold again that they were not going to adjust their systems to be responsive to clients who were not able to address the heat in their room. At a hotel, such as this, I would expect that the engineering teams would be on call and ready to adjust up and down and facilitate the comfort of the guest staying in the hotel.

Dishonest and awful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

FALSE advertisement. The website lists one price with a third night free so I booked it. This is the email I received from the the hotel: “ Hi, as per your request, please be advised when looking for rooms on the hotel website the $460.00 rate you see first is just an estimated rate and not the actual rates you will pay for the room. Please be advised you reservation will remain as confirmed” Since when do hotels give an estimate and not the real rate? I was told via telephone that is just to “draw people in”. Do yourself a favor folks and book elsewhere. This is bait and switch at its finest and the person on the phone “doesn’t know what to do about it”. Run away from this place. I should have known when they wrote “as per.”

NYC weekend for our sons engagement party

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed at the Gansevoort Meatpacking last weekend . I would give the experience a 100 if I could . I loved Gabi at the front desk. She got us checked in and out She was so kind, efficient and welcoming . The ladies in the lobby coffee shop were great too . The bell men were outstanding . I can’t remember all their names . My husband is in a wheelchair and they went above and beyond to get him in Ubers and into the hotel. I think they all need a raise. We had an amazing experience .

Not For Families, by design

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Adorable boutique hotel. It has some glaring design flaws that are weirdly becoming common design choices - a decade from now history will look at these design choices and ask - what idiot thought that was a good idea ? For example…barn door sliders on the bathrooms that don’t latch and slide open leaving unavoidable gaps. Half a see through door on the shower, the entire set up means you had better be a very comfortable exhibitionist with your chosen roomies. No additional lounge chairs or table space of any kind save a very small office chair. It may sleep a family of four, but its clear they want young romantic couples, not the typical age and stage of traveling Americans. Spare your older children or your aging bodies the embarrassment of this set up. The lobby area is equally as unaccommodating, with one small couch offering seating space during check in (and most people check in and out at the same times meaning a large bottle neck in a small area). Its very cute, but someone with practical knowledge of travel and staying in hotels needs to re design the rooms and common areas.

Horrible Hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Horrible Hospitality At the bar at the Gansevoort Meatpacking, the Food & Beverage Manager, John, saw me enter and still had me wait about 10 minutes, only to cancel my drink order and say the bar was “closed.” This was done rudely and without any apology. As a hotel guest, this level of service was unacceptable. John was not welcoming or professional. I would never stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting basic hospitality.
