Stayed two nights on business. Staff is friendly enough. I don't understand why boutique-Ish hotels think it hip to have hallways lit so dimly day and night. Had a business meeting in the lobby, whic was sweltering hot. Next morning, arose at 6:00 am, my sixth floor room had no hot water. Great way to start the day. Realize the hotel has no control over the neighborhood, but room facing west could not escape the din of rooftop bars across the street

We stayed here for 11 nights in July as a family of 4 (kids 5 & 11) in one of the Manhattan suites. The suite was very spacious particularly for NY standards, had 2 bathrooms and a small balcony. The hotel has a very cool vibe about it with quite an impressive rooftop bar and pool area which we used every day. The staff at the hotel were incredible helpful and friendly especially to our children. A particular shout out to Lorenzo who helped make our stay even more memorable. On the weekend the hotel was quite busy however we never felt like it was neither too crazy nor too loud. Their locations is excellent and in a great part of the meatpacking district with close access to many amazing places including Chelsea market and the High Line. I would rate our stay there in terms of value, location, staff and overall experience as excellent and would highly recommend it to anyone whether single or like us, with a young family. We were there to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday and the hotel and staff helped ensure our memories of her 40th, New York and the Gansevoort Hotel will last a long time Very best Dean, Meredyth, Claudia and Max (aka Mr Cannonball)

We arrived at night and check in was quick and painless. My wife and I were on a trip for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and there was a complimentary bottle of Prosecco waiting for us in our room - a very nice gesture. Room - On the small side but this is common in NYC. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. A couple of issues in the bathroom - a loose floor tile / crumbling grout and a shower head which fired water in all directions. The first thing I noticed was objects all over the room with price tags on them which were for sale. We were scared to touch anything in case we were charged. There was a shortage of power points in the room and the lighting in this place is very dark and dingy - in the rooms and the corridors. I was happy when I saw the coffee pod machine in the room until I saw that they charge you $2 per coffee pod - seriously? Coffee making facilities are the most basic thing that you should be providing your guests. It's not as though this hotel is cheap for a room. Pretty poor. Location - The location of this hotel is fantastic. It's close to plenty of eating places, subway stations and Chelsea Market. The area is vibrant and buzzing but you don't get harrassed by touts here like you do in uptown Manhattan. Rooftop Bar - This is where this hotel falls down. At weekends, the main entrance of the hotel has a line of drunken people waiting to get into the lift to go to the rooftop bar. Hotel guests are expected to prove that they are guests to the doormen by showing their room key. I have a problem with this as I am paying a lot of money for a room. Once inside, guests have to share a small elevator with the same drunks making their way to the rooftop bar. There is a security guard in the elevator. The rooftop bar obviously makes the hotel a lot of money (At around $12-15 per drink) at the expense of the quality of their guest's experience. Once you get to your room, you are kept awake by drunken idiots shouting and carrying on in the corridors and other rooms until the early hours of the morning. No one at the hotel appears to be monitoring what is going on. This is a nice hotel in a really good area. Sadly, the management of this hotel appear to care more about revenue from the bar than the experience of their paying guests. If you value a good night's sleep, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

I visited with my teenage daughter for a long weekend. The hotel was nice but totally rammed with young large parties. The noise on the hotel corridors was unbearable, starting from 11pm through to 3am. It was also incredibly loud outside the hotel window. The hotel did not take this seriously and said this was normal for a weekend. The restaurant for breakfast was souless and food wasn't great. The area that the hotel is in was a great area but I certainly would not recommend the hotel.
