Maybe the hotel was good long time ago. But now it cannot compete with other top hotels in Manhattan like the Mandarin Oriental or Park Hyatt. The only thing which was good was the friendliness of the staff. The decor is terrible, the elevator old, the breakfast restaurant has a terrible style without any window. I can imagine a much nicer atmosphere for a Easter breakfast. For some extras like muesli and tomatoes, avocados and breakfast potatoes they charged us 160 USD for a breakfast for 2. The Deluxe Suite we had was dark, no soundproof windows, very small bathroom with only one sink, super loud and drafty air-condition, a worn sofa, bad lightning etc. The location is great but this hotel would need a multi million dollar renovation.

Where do I start?? I have reserved 9 days (8 nights) at the Plaza Athenee with my 3 boys ! When we arrived I realised I had forgotten one suitcase at the airport! We arrived at around 20h when I almost collapsed when realising what I had done. Julien , the front desk assistant manager made I don't know how many calls to track my luggage. Next morning the concierge team made the rest and finally got the police who had found my suitcase . Next thing in the morning problem solved! Rick Cook chef concierge Kevin Howard assistant chef concierge, Anthony Silva concierge, Albert Almonte guest service manager, Chan Jose Jean Robert at the entrance and Robert at security; all of these mentioned made our stay so special and precious . The service is top notch, quick, efficient always wanting you to feel at home. A great thank you to all of you. 5 more days to go with you all in this lovely place. I'll be back for sure :-)

Hard to beat the PA ... always accommodating ... see the same team every time we stay there -- which is often. They will make right anything you find problematic and since you know that's the MO, you can relax about your stay.

I have to admit that it is a luxury hotel and so the service was professional. The room was relatively small but it was OK, the furniture was luxury as well. Hotel location was very near to the central park, but not a subway friendly hotel. Anyway, it is a good hotel to experience.

This is an old style, expensive, but comfortable and service excels. From the start the staff wanted to please. From the gentleman checking us in, to the bellman, to the housekeeper to the concierge, everyone wanted to please but in a gracious manner. The room was comfortable. No view but none was expected. The location is just a few blocks from Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue and the high-end stores there, and even closer to Central Park. Subway stations are not far. Although this is a one way residential cross street, the person at the door will run down the street to hail a cab and direct it to the hotel, not seeming to be put out despite the rain. A few negatives. Each time I've gone the lighting has been poor; no overhead lighting and only a few table lamps. I could have used less "atmosphere". Also, I was not warned that the dining room would be closed for awhile so we would have to eat in the bar/lounge which had limited capacity. One morning at breakfast the staff and kitchen were clearly overwhelmed leading to poor service and food, but that is the exception not the rule here. That being said, this is a place to which I will return.
