Better have a good lawyer if you stay at the James Soho NYC! My wife and I (44/45 yrs old) stayed on June 18th for a night. Went to Raoul’s for dinner and the Met afterward, then to bed by midnight. Checked out early next morning and were told a $116 Jimmy charge was applied to our room. We disputed, got nowhere and then they flipped the charge to a ‘mini bar’. Rum, gummy bears, tequila. My wife doesn’t drink. I drink beer or wine. Got the runaround every time we called to dispute. Tried to dispute via Amex to no avail. Absolutely ridiculous that we have no recourse but to take to social media because some drunks were able to use our room # with no checks/balances. Hope you got your money’s worth James – never again.

Decor of hotel was modern and had a great vibe! Lobby area was really beautiful and felt inviting and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the morning coffee/scones set up. The room was well appointed and comfortable, although we felt it was a little small. Loved the bath products! Bed was really comfy and I liked having the complimentary water beside the bed. Loved the choice selections in the honor bar! Also really loved our excellent view from the 12th floor. Rooftop bar was so much fun even though my group was a little older than most of the 20-somethings hanging out up there. The guys in the concierge area downstairs are the absolute best in arranging cars for the airport or grabbing a cab! The location could not have been better! So many excellent restaurants and cute shops within just a few blocks of this hotel. Also, check out the wonderful little coffee shop across the street "Bell's", the coffee and service there beat Starbuck's any day! Really great experience overall!

Rooms were fine but small and not luxurious in any way. Many little details that just shouldn't be, cuffs of the bathrobes torn and broken, table had a dent that was fixed by filling it up with glue or something, did not look good. We had two rooms, one room had a dirty floor throughout our 3 night stay and even though they stayed in there with 2 people at no point during their stay they actually had 2 bathrobes. The pool is absolutely tiny so that wasnt really an attraction. Due to the configuration of the building you usually only really see the doorman when going out and coming back into the hotel, this doesnt really create a feeling of being in a luxurious hotel, more of a normal condo building. We were not impressed, taking into consideration price.

Great rooms, excellent service, loved the bar. The pool is pretty small but still nice for a hot summer day. The rooms are clean, the lobby is nice, and it's a great walking distance to nightlife, food, and shopping.

We had a terrific stay. It was our first time at this hotel. In June we wanted to stay at the James in West Hollywood but it hadn't opened yet so we were looking forward to trying them out during our trip to New York (Soho). The room was smallish (but probably large for NYC standards) and a bit weathered. The room we had (upper floor deluxe king) had a modern chic look with slippery wood floors -- that were all scratched up. The hotel only has two elevators from room to lobby so they can get busy during peak times. However, overall, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. Its location in Soho is hard to fault. Close to great shopping with several subway lines nearby to get you anywhere. A special commendation to the staff - Yu On, Elaine and team for their amazing post-stay service! The staff in general were all friendly and super helpful - especially make sure to take their advice of where to go and the best way to get there! Bang on each and every time we sought their assistance. We are definitely staying there again!
