Very charming quaint hotel. Check in was a bit challenging as there was a issue with the computer, however the staff handled it well and swiftly. Our room was very elegant and well appointed. I appreciated the separate space for the sink and commode. Good size room and plenty of closet space. Would love to return to this property.

We went to the hotel for afternoon tea on a Sunday for our one year wedding anniversary. Our server was a blond young woman who was very polite. However she disappeared a lot. Also they gave us choices of tea bags when were poured hot water in a tea cup and we had to keep reusing the same bag. You are suppose to be give a pot of already steeped tea of your choice not ask the customer " Do you want more hot water " duh I am here for tea keep the hot water coming or leave some hot water at the dang table. The tea snacks were good. Except the bread was stale on the sammies. But them scones were everything. Macaroons are ok but not my fav. and there were a lot of them. But all and all very nice quite affordable and the harp player was so awesome she was playing Disney songs and a felt like a Disney princess with my prince. Wonderful memory thank you hotel Viking now buy tea pots.

My husband stayed here for two weeks for work and then we came back and spent a night here when we were in Newport. They offer great rates for Active Duty Military, so that was part of the incentive to come back. The hotel is located in a great spot in Newport, easily walking distance to Broadway, Thames Street, and the waterfront area. There is a great coffee shop across the street called Picnic that you will want to check out (esp considering that a large coffee in the hotel is $7). The rooms are small but nice. They've been updated and are comfortable. Make sure to request a room in the main building. I also had a spa treatment while we stayed at the hotel and it was wonderful. The spa is very small, but they handle things similarly to a very large spa.

A nice hotel, but costs too much for what you get. My room was too small for the price. It was also absolutely freezing. Air-con was ineffective, maintenance man couldn't fix it, had to give me a heater.

The Hotel Viking is a nice place best described as good but not great. I agree with other reviewers that it is overpriced but has a very good location. Room was generally ok but the bed was heavenly. We stayed 5 nights here and had some 6 meals in the hotel's restaurant. Food was quite good.
