The Hotel Viking is perfectly located. It is far enough off the beaten path that it is quiet and relaxing but close enough to walk everywhere! You can walk to the beach, cliff walk, downtown, and shopping! All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and fun! The room was clean, spacious, and quiet! We will absolutely be back!

We had never been to Newport. We played around with the thought of staying in a B & B which I am sure would have been fine, but then, we fell upon a description of Hotel Viking. It sounded perfect for a couple of history buffs! It is a charming hotel--our room was quaint but well furnished. The staff is helpful, and although you have to valet park which is a bit pricey, they made the process as easy as it can be. A huge asset is that it is centrally located and most of the restaurants are within walking distant. I was only disappointed by the afternoon Tea. Why? Although there were few people in the restaurant, the waitress was incredibly slow. Our tea had cooled off and was mostly drank by the time she brought in the cakes and sandwiches. We spent way too much time on this as the waitress just disappeared when we tried to get our check. I would recommend skipping this activity. Otherwise, a perfect hotel for a stay in Newport.

Hotel is nice, but could use some cleaning/paint in the rooms. Hotel was not ready for us at check-in, and requested that we go find a bellman to check our bags - not a big deal, but don't try to pass yourself off as a first class operation ( with hefty prices) if you are going to have your guests doing your job. Location was great!

I was here for a company event, the hotel has an abundance of room for meetings and workshops. The rooms were very nice with cute decoration. The pool was a little cold but overall it was an easy walk from the hotel to the center of the city!

I stayed at the Hotel Viking over the Fourth of July weekend for two nights. It's an older hotel and I would describe it as a historic, "boutique"-style hotel. It's in a good location, within walking distance to Thames, the Cliff Walk, and the mansions. I didn't use my car after I left it with the valet. I walked approximately 20(+) miles in two days, sight-seeing and taking photos. After walking all day long, the hotel bed was really comfortable and I slept well. I used the fitness facility, which is on the lower level, next to the indoor pool, and it had standard equipment: treadmills, an exercise bike, free weights, etc. The concierge was great. I asked the front desk to call me a taxi (I was going to a wedding) and the taxi never arrived. The concierge saw me waiting and offered to take me and a few other guests to the church at no charge. The attendant went and got the hotel car/van and thankfully, we all got to the wedding on time. Also, the Director of Rooms, Tim Beaudoin, was very responsive in helping me with a concern I had, which I appreciated.
