We have waited until 5 pm for our rooms to be ready, and 20 min until they were pleased to lead you in there. Also, my father has one of the worst room with a view on the wall and garbage. Price was really expensive and nothing was included in the room price except the bedroom itself. We had trouble with double levy on fees, they have tried to charge two times for the same service.

Found this wonderful place at the last minute while on a road trip up the New England coast. It's on the registry of Historic Places, and it lives up to that. Elegant, clean and beautiful...and the staff are fantastic. It has lovely dining areas, a stunning rooftop bar, and fabulous spa/indoor pool area. The only thing that prevented a 5 star is that the bathrooms need a tiny bit of updating. That said, the lobby, common areas, and rooms are large and very elegantly appointed. The beds are top quality, as well. Had never been to Newport before, but this little slice of luxury, in this beautiful historic neighborhood, was the best find ever.

Room was okay. Attention to detail was limited - Maid came and changed towels and made beds. She often failed to refill toilet paper and tissues. Small bathrooms. Sink had no door. Room service was always exactly on time, but often with wrong order. The hotel would be better is you had a gift shop instead of the "art" shop.

The hotel is in a beautiful stately historic building. It is in a wonderful location. Walk in any direction you will find things to explore. The staff is very nice and attentive, except maybe in the breakfast buffet. Now the bad part......we stayed in a large pricey sweet. We could not sit on any of the furniture. The couch and chairs were so dirty they should be put out on the crib with the garbage. The room smelled of old dust. The bed was comfortable and the sheets looked clean, I hope they were. I immediately took off all the toppings on the bed although I did not like touching them. The place would have been fabulous but the furniture needs changing. They are going for old and charming but they do not get there. The bathroom was redone which was good. The common areas look redone...now try fixing the rooms. Oh our room was "cleaned" very late in the day which was a inconvience because we were out all day and then needed to wait for housekeeping. .

We recently stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The location of the hotel is important as it is a 5-10 minute walk from all of the action on Thames St. and about a 15 minute walk to the cliff walk entrance, tennis hall of fame and the mansions. Everything is within walking distance. Upon arrival on a Sunday afternoon the hotel lobby and entry was very busy. They didn't have enough staff to handle all of the check -ins, and they had limited help for luggage and valet. The reception was clearly overloaded and couldn't handle the crowd. There are apparently different sections of the hotel. The original historic hotel building and then a newer building. We had a room with a king bed in the newer building. For the price the rooms are very average, bathrooms are small, and not what you would expect for this type of hotel. The room was not extremely clean and we ended up finding red stains on the comforter. Not good! We had the buffet breakfast included in our package and that also was a very mediocre breakfast buffet. There are very few hotel options when visiting Newport but I would certainly recommend looking elsewhere.
