My mom and I spent four nights at Hotel Viking while on a trip just the two of us. The gorgeous hotel and grounds coupled with the top notch hospitality make Hotel Viking quite a gem! The room was lovely, clean and perfect for what we needed. The location of the hotel is ideal with easy access to anywhere we wanted to visit. Hotel Viking is a must if you're visiting Newport.

Let me start with the high points, extremely comfortable beds, top notch staff(of whom I encountered), gorgeous exterior, fantastic fig and prosciutto croissant for breakfast, delicious drinks and beautiful view on the rooftop bar. The lesser points, the room was what seemed a country mile from the front door. We were on the 2nd floor which is the main floor. If walking a long way is a problem, you may need to request a closer room. The room and hallway had low ceilings with drop tiles in some areas that just looked old. The extremely long hallways smelled musty in areas. The walls had some raised/peeling paint and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been updated in many years. The decor was very average in the rooms. I probably would not have left this review except for what me and my girlfriends paid in standard rate room charge plus extras charged by the authorities for roughly 7 extra local surcharges, it bothered me to pay $2630 for 3 nights. Maybe Newport is just a really expensive city to stay in but I have stayed in exceptional hotels for this price and this hotel was not exceptional.

A phenomenal stay and experience every time. We were married here in 2022 and have since returned to Hotel Viking each summer for a vacation. We always receive a warm welcome, the hotel amenities are great, the rooms are wonderful. The hotel has so much charm. A visit to The Top of Newport is a must for anyone coming to Newport, even if you aren’t staying at the hotel. A 360° view of Newport, fabulous food and cocktails, and great fires to get cozy by after dark. Any meal we’ve had at One Bellevue is amazing. Be sure to ask for Maureen, she’s taken care of us each time we’ve gone back for vacation and she provides the most spectacular dining experience. Visit Hotel Viking, you won’t be disappointed.

We stayed here on 4th of July weekend so it was quite busy. The rooms were nice and the bed super comfortable, but there was no couch in the room. Additionally, there is no service to make phone calls and we had trouble connecting to the wifi. It made it challenging to look up restaurants etc. The common areas were a bit falling apart. The women’s public restroom had water all over the floor from the pool and toilets were dirty. Lastly, the valet staff is not friendly or helpful. 7 guys stand around watching you move your bags into the hotel. There was also no self parking as they described on the website. They will however help you load your car even when you don’t need help anxiously trying to get a tip. Just a wasted resource in my opinion.

This hotel is steeped in history and very much part of the community. It is a popular hotel with lots of guests coming and going. We enjoyed our stay with lots of different areas to sit and relax in throughout the hotel. A great base to explore Newport RI

We got married at Kay Chapel and had our reception at the Hotel Viking in December. The entire event was everything that I hoped it would be! The Hotel Viking is traditional, outstanding and eloquent. Our reception was in the Bellevue Ballroom and everything was beautiful. The staff was exceptional! They were there for us throughout the evening and paid such close attention to all of the guests! The hotel service was also outstanding. I am delighted to give the Hotel Viking the highest of reviews.
