Great location near downtown Newport and mansions. Had a fantastic massage at the spa. Indoor pool was very nice. Cute vintage themed decor in the rooms. Smores outside of hotel in the evening- nice touch! Only issue was that we were on the first floor, where there are several function rooms, and it was a bit loud on Friday night (but not as bad on Saturday). I would request a room on a higher level if I were to come again. They removed a service fee from our bill when we mentioned this. Street parking was available (in March- off season). Overall, a good stay in Newport- would recommend to friend or family.

The Hotel Viking hosted an annual afternoon meeting and reception for our Association. From start to finish the entire team at this property was helpful. Our staff person worked very closely with the hotel's sales and catering department to iron out all event details ahead of time so that when our staff and guests arrived everything was perfect. The representative from the contracted audio visual company was extremely professional and personable. The banquet servers were attentive yet respectful of our guest speaker and our attendees to ensure that service did not interrupt our speaking program. We look forward to hosting another meeting or event at this property in the future.

Go yearly to Newport in March and try different locations. Thought this would be a luxury stay but was disappointed that the rooms are not in top shape (bedding and towels were very nice) We could not find a map in our room to where anything was located, found a "game" room (our label) near an exit. What we found was usable but nothing was in good working order-air hockey table, ping pong, basketball game, corn hole, but we did have some fun working with what was there. Have no idea where the pool is, there was a sign with an arrow by the have room but it pointed to the door to leave. The staff is friendly.

My wife and I stayed at the the hotel Viking for a get away weekend with no kids. This hotel was perfect in every sense of the word. The staff was extremely attentive to every need. From the front desk to the bell hops, great. The spa was just what was needed and the masseuse did a fantastic job. Food was delicious, price and location was also perfect. We will definitely stay here again. The king Viking suite is the way to go here.

I booked one room with two queen beds first and then a few days later, my parents decided to join us so I used an option under my first reservation to add another room and paid the same price. When we checked in at the front desk, I asked for two rooms on the same floor. I was told my second room is not the same room type as the first one. We had to get one room on the 2nd floor with 2 queen beds and the other on the 4th floor with 1 queen bed. I explained that it would be inconvenient for the whole family to stay apart. They insisted that we didn't book the same room type. What kind of customer service is that? It is the low season for the hotel and the hotel is not full. Would it make a difference for the hotel cost-wise to grant our request? Absolutely not. But this speaks to the level of their customer service: inflexible and arrogant! Wont stay here again. The hotel definitely shows its age, nothing spectacular either!
