For the most part Hotel Viking is a very nice old hotel with all the modern conveniences of a new Hotel. The rooms are a bit small but decorated beautifully to reflect the history and glamour of Newport's gilded age. My only complaint is that air conditioners were very loud in the historic part of the hotel. The newer addition is much quieter. Great location though! Just a 5 minute walk to Thames street and within walking distance to Newport's Historic mansions.

Room was very large but faced a busy street. The air conditioning system was antiquated so it took a long time to cool the room when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Overall the hotel is an excellent place to stay when visiting the Tennis Hall of fame, museums, and mansions but it is not inexpensive; in addition to the room rate, be aware the you also pay daily rates of $35 for parking and $16 as a resort fee.

Me and my wife stayed at the hotel on 7/16. Let me say the good thing first, location was great and lobby and roof top bar were nice. The toilet and the bath tub had disgusting stains that I thought initially was just dirty but no they were permanent stains. The room had an old window air conditioner unit that was not efficient to cool the room until mid night. The window shade was almost broken and cannot be fully lowered because of the air conditioner unit. We paid $478.25 for one night that included $35 valet parking. The valet personnel were nice but the front desk personnel did not treat us nicely from the minute we walked in. It was not a busy time and they hade no reason to be that way except may be they are not fond of people from other race? I am enclosing a few photos to share.

We were in Newport for a wedding and wanted a centrally located place to stay for a couple of days. The Viking turned out to be the perfect pick. Between events we were able to walk to interesting and historic places in any direction. The bellmen and parking attendants are extremely friendly and helpful. In fact everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. I am sure we will be back.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Viking. Priced at $500+ per night we were slightly disappointed with the $35 per day parking charge!! Great location short walk to the wharf and mansions. Very friendly professional staff.
