All is top notch at this property. Valets and front desk staff go out of their way to accommodate. One can tell when a smile or response is forced... the staff here appears to genuinely care about their guests. One important point to make about this property and its not necessarily a negative: potential guests must understand that this building is almost 100 years old. Certain aspects are not modern i.e. size of windows, size of rooms etc... but hence part of its beauty. Having said that the guest rooms are exquisitely appointed. Bathrooms might be slightly smaller than some others in the area but they are still luxurious. The spa was very decent, massage was great. Breakfast at the restaurant was just as good if not better than any other breakfast spot in town. And there was no wait.

This is a very attractive looking building. Valet parking is compulsory which, as previous guests have commented, is a bit strange as the car park is at the back of the hotel and we could see our car from our room. Check in took some time. There was a wedding in the hotel and the (very loud) wedding guests were spilling out of the bar and into reception, so the queue for reception was a bit chaotic. The stressed staff at reception kept sending radio messages for help - but none came. In the room the fridge was broken (I know hotel mini bars are often the most efficient fridges, but this one actually had warm contents). I checked the connections, but it was just a broken fridge. There are mixed reviews on the rooms. I think this is because the very attractive main building has had a huge and unsympathetic annexe added. It looks horrible. Breakfast is a la carte. After the $35 to park the car, we decided to avoid the bar (where other drinkers continued to squawk loudly), and restaurant and walk into the very pretty town to eat. Annie's Diner for breakfast was first rate - and very reasonably priced. It is a short walk into town - a much longer walk to the waterfront. I think this hotel relies on the looks of the original building to attract guests. I did not feel as though we received value for money. This nice old property has been over-extended so that the relatively small bar and reception in the original building struggles to cope. We would like to visit Newport again, but will look for alternative accommodation.

Check in very professional And smooth. Our room was small very noisy and the room could do with an update. The swimming pool and changing room also look dated . For a hotel with a spa we didn’t have dressing gowns in our room.

Very charming quaint hotel. Check in was a bit challenging as there was a issue with the computer, however the staff handled it well and swiftly. Our room was very elegant and well appointed. I appreciated the separate space for the sink and commode. Good size room and plenty of closet space. Would love to return to this property.

We went to the hotel for afternoon tea on a Sunday for our one year wedding anniversary. Our server was a blond young woman who was very polite. However she disappeared a lot. Also they gave us choices of tea bags when were poured hot water in a tea cup and we had to keep reusing the same bag. You are suppose to be give a pot of already steeped tea of your choice not ask the customer " Do you want more hot water " duh I am here for tea keep the hot water coming or leave some hot water at the dang table. The tea snacks were good. Except the bread was stale on the sammies. But them scones were everything. Macaroons are ok but not my fav. and there were a lot of them. But all and all very nice quite affordable and the harp player was so awesome she was playing Disney songs and a felt like a Disney princess with my prince. Wonderful memory thank you hotel Viking now buy tea pots.
