Had the worst experience at this hotel. We were greeted with a young gentleman who stared "this place is closing in a month for a full renovation" which didn't make me feel good about what we would be seeing. Upon checking in we were told there was no concierge to help us with planning mansion tours. In the elevator the bellhop stated "this elevator scares me" (great). Our room was nothing great upon entering. However, after closer inspection we noticed black mold in the shower and dust in the open heating system. When we went to bed I tried to call down for extra pillows and blankets. No answer. I had to go down and was told they would "try" to get some. The pull out sofa was awful and had coils popping out. The next morning we explained our situation to the manager. He gave us 25 percent off and let us out of the next night. Then he told us it was his last day. We moved to the Vanderbilt which was almost the same money and had a wonderful time.

The hotel really deserves 3.5 stars but I was happy to round up. After reading some really terrible recent reviews I was close to canceling my reservation. I’m glad I didn’t. The hotel is charming and old fashioned, we found all of the staff friendly and had good sleeps in our comfy bed. Its central location means it’s walkable to almost all of the cites and restaurants. We had lovely messages at the spa and enjoyed morning coffee from the market in the lobby. Yes, the hotel is old and could use a refresher. My husband couldn’t get hot water in the shower at the spa. Our room shower took a long time to drain. The hot tub by the pool is more of a bath with no jets. We didn’t need the air conditioner but the heating system made some strange noises, nothing to keep us awake though. Perhaps if I had paid north of $500 a night I would have been upset too but I got a better rate. I came with low expectations and was happily surprised

The only thing I missed the two times I’ve stayed at the Viking is to be able to open de windows, I find a problem the air system.

My husband and I came to celebrate our anniversary The location is perfect, and it’s our third time staying here. . We were warmly greeted by Christy. She is so sweet and courteous. Our suite was beautiful. Aside from location and amenities, service is most important to us. We had the most contact with Christy and she needs to be cloned. She is wonderful. We also dealt with Emily and she was also very courteous and went above and beyond. I’m glad we also got to meet Brian, the front desk manager who truly appreciates his guests and wants them to have a great experience, and we did! We look forward to returning after the renovation.

We were excited to stay at the hotel, but would never return. Our room was tired & old, with a tiny bathroom that you couldn’t swing a cat in. The coffee machine didn’t work, neither did most of the power outlets in the room. When we complained we got a shrug and and “we’ll fix it” but they never did over our 3 night stay. The breakfast was good and most of the waiting staff were great - but front desk were rude, slow and made us feel like we were an inconvenience. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We got married at Kay Chapel and had our reception at the Hotel Viking in December. The entire event was everything that I hoped it would be! The Hotel Viking is traditional, outstanding and eloquent. Our reception was in the Bellevue Ballroom and everything was beautiful. The staff was exceptional! They were there for us throughout the evening and paid such close attention to all of the guests! The hotel service was also outstanding. I am delighted to give the Hotel Viking the highest of reviews.
