My daughter (14), mother, and I stayed at Hotel Viking Newport for a long weekend in May. The renovations to this historic hotel are beautiful! I most enjoyed the very soft beds and good-sized accommodations of our double-queen room. Everything is new and very clean. We had maid service each day and they took care to make our room perfect and comfortable. We enjoyed the bar area in the hotel for small bites and drinks in the evenings. The concierge was very helpful in setting up dinner reservations and helping us with any questions we had. Unfortunately, we had wet weather all weekend long, so we did not walk as much as we wanted. The final day was sunny, so I walked to Thames and around town - the hotel is a perfect locations for walkers! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Newport!

Recently was there after their 2026 renovation. Not impressed with the staff. No place to get a bottle of water or a place for evening coffee. Everything looked “sterile”. No appearance to a return to grandeur. It was “modernized”. You have to dodge painters and employees loitering in hallways. If they weren’t ready to provide 100% service, they should have waited. The myriad of add on charges were shocking.

This hotel was typical for what we were expecting. we had a lower room that faced the courtyard. Accommodations were fine, but the price was high for fourth of July. There was a pig roast for the fourth, but it was not clear if it was included. The rooftop bar was open for drinks to view fireworks, but this was ticketed and ended up being cancelled due to thunderstorms.

Pool was cold, hot tub broken, no robe or slippers. Expensive hotel seems to cater to weddings and corporate meetings much more than tourists.

We got married at Kay Chapel and had our reception at the Hotel Viking in December. The entire event was everything that I hoped it would be! The Hotel Viking is traditional, outstanding and eloquent. Our reception was in the Bellevue Ballroom and everything was beautiful. The staff was exceptional! They were there for us throughout the evening and paid such close attention to all of the guests! The hotel service was also outstanding. I am delighted to give the Hotel Viking the highest of reviews.
