The Hotel Viking is a well-run, historic hotel in a great location in Newport. The staff is professional and accommodating. One word of caution: Beware of the 08 rooms. There is a service elevator running through he middle of the hotel next to these rooms. The sound from the elevator pretty much sounded like fingernails on a chalk board - and it started at 5:00 am. We went the front the front desk and got a room change - but we still lost a lot of sleep. Otherwise, everything was great!

I recently visited Newport for a girl's get away weekend. The Hotel Viking was perfect! The staff was knowledgable and extremely helpful in places to visit and eat. The room was spacious enough for 4 adults, and nicely updated, although our view was the parking lot! An added bonus is the live music and friendly bartenders at the hotel bar when you return from your night out on the town!

Loved this hotel! It was in a great location, that was quiet when needed, but just a short walk to downtown Newport! Would definitely go back & stay here again! The front desk staff was delightful & every staff member I saw had a smile.

This is a repeat visit. Our first few visits in years prior were much more organized and courteous. The Viking is aware of concerns. The wedding venue was nice. The pool location caused problems for the guests of the wedding. Also it was very cold, had to call in a technician to get the heat on in the event area. Do not trust guests of the hotel walking by event. Gifts taken. Very sad experience for the bride and groom.
