Two bar staff members were very rude for the week we were there to several members of our group. Also tried to go to breakfast and were treated terrible when we walked in like we were unconvincing her, we walked out after being treated nasty as we walked in (from an older lady) and was ignored for 15 minutes. No coffee or juice. We moved rooms and it was a little better but unfortunetly we will not stay again. They never ran a vacuum, emptied garbages, replaced toilet paper/tissues. They basically came in and tightened up our bed I already made and gave us new towels. I eventually hunted down the cleaning crew for toilet paper/tissues. I took our new clothing bags and emptied our garbages and left dirty glasses as well outside our door. Overall not a great experience other then the front desk and gentleman at the front door. We have stayed in a lot of historical hotels but the lack of effort in upgrades here was disappointing. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. Wall paper should not be peeling. The attention to detail is lacking. We travel quite a bit and own several rental properties so we notice a bit more. Most of the time we over look it but the few staff members that were not welcoming, the staff cleaning our rooms neglect… unfortunetly we will not be coming back to this hotel. We are not concerned with price and happy to pay more for better quality. Loved the town and history! We will be back to visit, just not this venue. Best of luck!

Overall, I would rate Hotel Viking as Very Good. Staff was friendly and courteous for the most part (there was one person that gave a bad vibe). I did not like the flat bathroom sink design because the water does not drain fast enough (this can be an issue for example after trimming mustache and beard). Also, a bathroom hook to hang the bath towel near the shower was missing. Finally, the mattress was not that comfortable making it difficult to get a good night sleep sometimes. Finally, the TV was flat screen (which is nice) but does now allow one to swing it to the direction of the desk (so I can only watch TV from the bed which is not optimistic).

Classic old hotel short on service - great location, but needs some work on the hotel and staff. Not the best service from the staff, whether it was the bar or front desk, needs some training. The coffee shop closes early, and there is no other place to get coffee or snacks, the standard stuff in all hotels. Roof bar not open until later in May, yet a beautiful day...

I liked the Hotel Viking- good and some things to be improved. Upscale price but little things could be better- no pen and paper in room- most hotels at this price point have complimentary pads and pens available for guests. Had to ask for additional TP- roll low and house keeping did not leave an additional roll -asked and promptly remedied, but should it have to ask. Valet parking services fry nice and helpful. Front desk wonderful but felt bad having to ask for things that should be automatic, I.e. room safe not irking because someone stole the batteries from it- should have been checked and remedied before the next guest as well as the riot not being functional. Now ther are two irons in the room but I’m not sure which is which. This is a hotel with a slightly upscale price but seems to need a little TLC

Hotel Viking has been recently renovated and is a beautiful property. Conveniently located and walking distance to Thames Street and the Mansions. The staff is very attentive as well.

We got married at Kay Chapel and had our reception at the Hotel Viking in December. The entire event was everything that I hoped it would be! The Hotel Viking is traditional, outstanding and eloquent. Our reception was in the Bellevue Ballroom and everything was beautiful. The staff was exceptional! They were there for us throughout the evening and paid such close attention to all of the guests! The hotel service was also outstanding. I am delighted to give the Hotel Viking the highest of reviews.
